IC: Gregory Wolf
He came up to Onyx. "So what exactly is your game, Onyx?" He raised one of the taquitos and dipped it into the dipping sauce. He bit into it and nodded. It was as good as it smelled. "Why did Soren send you to babysit me? Isn't he satisfied with how much he's ruined my life so far?"
"You have thrown yourself under a bus Greg. Wanting to change what can't be changed." She told him, "Running from everyone that can help you... yet still those people have people watching over you to keep you safe and to help you."
He rolled his eyes at that. "And if I don't do whatever somebody like Soren or Rayna want I'll get run over by that bus. Is that my choices, Onyx? Follow their script or get run over? Who are they to send you to try to get me back on course?"
"Yet still those people have people watching over you to keep you safe and to help you. Both have people watching over you and here to help you that are... safe... Me because I can relate to the insanity of it all." Onyx continued, "Rayna and Soren have been manipulated in different ways throughout most of their lives. They have had tough calls placed on them I don't envy either one of them their rank and title."
He took a drink of his cherrycoke, "And you're here to keep me on Soren's script?" He finished off his last taquito and put his plate in a nearby garbage can. "Why did Soren send you to watch me anyway?"
"I have the advantage of being an outsider..." She explained, "In a way someone here from another time."
"Another time," He asked.
She shrugged, "Long story."
He would've pressed her further but In the corner of his eye, on the roof of the building overlooking the open lot Greg saw something move. He turned his looking up for whatever caught his attention.
Onyx noticing that said, "Your tail from Rayna's side of things... She has a far worse fate than anyone really. She is both Wolf and Vampire... They call them Ankou Some view them as hated abomination some view them as someone who could help lead in a more enlightened supernatural community because they can see both sides the good the bad and the ugly and can help each side understand the other. She and I are from the same camp generations ago and far from this country."
He looked at her like she had just tried to explain nuclear fission to him. She just stood there ripping into the burger she had bought that looked so huge he could feel it raising his cholesterol by its sheer proximity. She pulled away her cheeks bulging filled with ground pork and bun and the gooey cheese. It was also covered in a sticky tangy glaze. Greg could tell because there was a wide smile of the stuff covering her full cheeks and over her lips.
The sight made him laugh at her. He held out his napkin to her, "Here, you're going to need this."
Greg couldn't help it. He was starting to like this girl. He knew she was working for Soren, and was probably playing him somehow he hadn't figured out yet, but...
...but he couldn't help it. He had just turned his back on all the friends he had left, and her forthrightness (which still may be all part of the act) was endearing to him.
No, he'd been stabbed in the heart enough today. He'd have to keep this Onyx at a distance no matter how honest and upfront or real she was being.
After swallowing her mouthful of burger she continued, "I think your other guardian would be a good person for you to talk to as well some time. She has a very... unique outlook on both sides of the coin so to speak."
"Other guardian?" Greg looked up at the rooftop of the adjacent building, "There's someone up there. Would that be this other babysitter you're talking about?"
