Hey, thanks. I take it the casks are made in Madeira... with a certain kind of wood..? Yeah, interesting... I agree. :rose:

The casks are used (in Madeira) to mature Madeira wine first, then, when discarded, are purchased by the whisky distiller and used to mature the whisky. That way they impart subtle additional notes to the whisky flavour. Deeelicious, I expect!

Ah-ha! Now, that makes sense. Duh... Of course. What a great re-purposing of the casks... too.
I know a little about Madeira wine. My paternal great grandparents (from Madeira Island) built a still where he made both wine and whiskey once they settled in CA (late 1890's). Of course, that was before my time. :cattail:
