Try a Bowline with a small loop. If you run the line back though the loop it slips like a choke collar without binding.does anyone have a good knot that will allow the loop to tighten and loosen without taking the entire knot apart

Google "taut line hitch." Or if you happen to have a BSA Handbook around, look in there. The knot is designed for taking up slack, such as you get in tent lines. Works pretty good in leather cord, too.
Lots of fun options in Ashley's Book of Knots, as well.

What kind of rope did you use? That is probably the issue.

At a party we had at a friends house about 23 people showed up some of the play had to do with Hot Wax drizzled on willing subjects The wax was melted in a very small crock pot
