I was just offered an all expenses paid trip for a job interview. The only problem is it involves flying, something I haven't done in over a decade.

Flying itself doesn't bother me, but airport security in the US has only gotten more and more invasive and absurd. They molest everyone, and would further harass someone like me for fun. I'm not sure what to do.

As a bit of background, I'm a transwoman. All my papers are in order, my appearance is perfectly passable, and no one is the wiser. At least, unless they conduct searches which in any other circumstance would be considered sexual assault.

What is the level of idiocy in the TSA these days? Is there anything I can do to prevent persecution? There's no way I'll ever step into a nudie scanner, but what about the groping?

Hang on - I think I may have some info on this for you...no where did I...? I know - one of my subscribes on YouTube flew last year and had some info.
I'll go hunt it out and edit it in later
xx

PM'd you x

I've not flown in the US but basically all those airport people just want to do their job with as little hassle as possible. If you make it easier for them by having the right info ready, it will make their day better - and yours. All the same, it's a worry :(

i would suggest that it would have to be a female who conducts the search for legal reasons and i find most security staff are very diplomatic and considerate so try not to worry,x

i agree ask for a lady to do it, i find most people now days seem to be more open minded, just be cool and do as they ask, after all those people are for our protection, but i know i know there is still some closed minded dick heads out there, any way happy flying

There more interested in Grandma, and 3yr olds....Find the Middle Eastern Family...and you'll be passed right on through...

Why do you think you are going to be searched? Unless you set off alarms for some reason TSA is not likely to "search" you. If they do its a wand and pat down and if you are a woman in appearance they will automatically call for a female agent.

This is so true. I fly every other week. I have watch so many grannies being frisked. Once, as they pulled a 90 y.o. granny off to the side I said tot he TSA agent as I was passing by "Watch it!!! She's gonna make a break for it" and I kept walking. The TSA agent turned and smiled. This is so stupid.

I saw an obvious TS trying to get into Keiv and she was detained. Don't know what happened. It's probably better in the states.

Last I heard, if you declined a scanner you could expect a pat-down search. My girlfriend did that a few years back and was groped by the TSA agent; I'm not sure whether it was because she looks androgynous, and I don't know if that's a common occurrence, but it happened.

The scanners no longer show full body shots, it is just a stick figure with no revealing details. As long as you are not carrying anything suspicious you should not have a problem unless you refuse to go through the scanner.
