writing live

My highs and blues
give no warning
vagrants wandering through
a downtown inner city
morning and night
light and dark
smiles n frowns
all blown away
by your smile

No time posted
no room left on desk top
no room left in brain
for all those silly conventions
dementia non withstanding
audacity still in effect
live baby
gotta love the duality
bing/snap
homonym grits
country style
Don't, don't read back
you'll only start thinking again
change something that an Oldman wrote
when you see another path
to nowhere and beyond
searching, ever searching
editing your life/write
internally
shutting up now.

in a dark room
a dark road
a dark mind
vagrant thoughts look for oncoming traffic
scuffed emotions brought to a halt
by dainty-stepping woodland creatures
sunrise breaking

Hi ku cat
you minimalist with the most
delicate pause I know
transforming shade to full sun
then braking

sometimes i am the right person
sometimes
it don't matter a shit
'cos the right person
will always be the wrong one
for somebody else

You've always been the right person
no fault of yours
that precious stones
sometimes hard to find
just need a prospector
to dig a little deeper

so many stones underfoot
people can't stop to think about them all
their heads are not that spacious
nor is there time
to consider how sublime a single stone might be
when it's just one in a yard of shingle
(so many shades of brown)

the clever prospector
though
he's another matter
he regards the peripherals
notices the shapes and understands erosion
so when he's drawn and dips his hand
lifts a pebble to his eye
he sees more than the next

stone
meet prospector
prospector
meet stone

Someone needs a good polishing. :D

We covered one window with a large mirror.
It better returns both light and heat.
True, we can each see
ourselves and each other but
that is as beside the point for us
as it is for our cat
which also likes light and heat

When in Rome, hitch a ride to Albany or Schenectady.
When in trouble, hitch up your horse or trousers.
When indecisive, hctih or vice versa.

St. Mary's Junior High School

"I do not like thee, Dr. Fell"
they made me say in English Lit,
the nuns who grunted like a pig,
or maybe Tom Brown's Dr. Fell

"who once expelled one Master Tom
from Christ Church, Oxford, Merry England"
Sister said who found me there
in the cloakroom with Suzy Fromme.

I do not like thee, Sister Hell.

From the movie 'Hi-Life'
She: What do you want for Christmas?
He: You, I want you for Christmas.
She: Well that's good. I wont have to shop and will be fun to unwrap.

It was the sleekest machine I ever saw,
candy apple red with a hot flame job,
just got a glimpse as it was passing,
liked to have blown me off my old fat bob.

Right behind her came the local law,
blue lights flashing, siren wailing,
checked my mirrors said 'what the fuck',
twisted the throttle, tried to catch up.

Never saw that cop again,
but I pulled in to Spokane a half hour early,
hungry, thirsty, low on gas,
beer, burgers, and high octane were on my mind
when she pulled up beside me at that stop sign
gave me a wink and a cloud of blue smoke
hell bent for east.

oh, wow . . . this has some pace to it! your arse had better hug that saddle tight on as you hit the bends

decompression's a wonderful thing

drunk on oxy-gene
the reefs beckon
smiling, you sing with clowns
before the bends hit you
unforgiving of raptures
ruptures imminent

pacing is everything
dive deep
fluoresce with the best
but ascend
more slowly
into the light

oh, sub this one, works on so many levels. an excellent description of oxygen narcosis. Love the duality inherent in this

water
like love
is soft
till you hit it at speed

(not a live, a decapitated oldie)

if you think it worth subbing, harry, i will

the first four lines of your comment are a poem in their own.
and the question is ...what do you want, I think, still caught up in hitting love at speed.

yeah, they were the opening lines of an older poem, the second half is someplace. possibly another live write, but can't remember. it's a strong image, i think. the second half involved treading water and sinking

So many thoughts come to mind but the image of a long sea voyage is rather frightful with all that water around considering the added second half or perhaps the metaphor flips and swims away? :cattail:

water-child, you, of all people, know how to shape-change.
