Facing the Death Penalty, Thomas joined the convict team of Breakfast and was one of three to win that episode; it was the first time more than 1 convict had been successful, as well as the only time a convict had become an Ace, meaning he killed 5 combatants from the Cops team.

His father was a "survivalist" and trained Dean from the time he was a boy.
His father, a gambling addict, was killed by people he owed money to when Dean was 12.
Dean went to foster care. He taught the bigger kids very quickly that just because he was withdrawn, that didn't mean that he was defenseless. He studied all martial art forms.
He was adopted at 5, but that ended badly when the adoptive-father came home one night and in a drunken rage decided to take his frustrations out on Dean. Dean put the man in the hospital and slipped away, dropping from the radar.
Four years later, Dean emerged when he went after his father's killers. After brutal killings and near captures by the Police, he turned his attention to bigger game. By now Dean was deadly in hand-to-hand combat, combining the martial arts techniques he had learned over the years. He also became a crack shot with pistols and rifles.
During his vigilante spree he killed all types, from drug-dealers, pimps, rapists, murderers, and more.
When he went after a corrupt cop, he got caught during a drawn-out gun fight. He did get his man, but the SWAT teams had enough time to shut down any possible escape. He had to give up or die. He gave up.
He admitted to all 125 counts of murder and got the death sentence as he showed no remorse for his actions. During his wait for his execution, Dean helped the Prison Riot Guard to stop an attempted escape by 50 of the inmates. Again he left bodies in his wake, but helped any guard that he could. In light of these actions he was deemed still too dangerous to be part of society, but as he did show that he had mercy, the court was reviewing his Death Penalty punishment; they were considering showing mercy on him and making his sentence "Life" instead of "Death" ... when Marcus Bennett showed up.
Host's Note: I changed the last part from he got the reduction in sentence to he might get the reduction; all combatants must be sentenced to execution to be part of Breakfast.

A Key Change in Story
In case you read this before the big change, I had planned for the perimeter of the Arena to be surrounded by a razor wired wall, 20 feet high. I have since changed that. There is no wall any more. Instead, the Convicts and Cops alike are kept within the Arena by the Security Cuffs and The Comms.
