As 2014 comes to a close did you...

I didn't come close. Whiffed on each and every one. However, in September I started a massive project that will take up all of 2015, and I have made decent, measurable progress on it so far. I'm also close to getting my first ever contest story submitted, and that was one of my goals for 2014.

My goal was 15 new stories in 2014, I posted 7, maybe another 2 or so more before New Years.

I exceeded by infinity!

Because I didn't enter the year with any intents. At present, this will be the only place I write. I'm not into it seriously.

Goals that I am setting are to think about my stories less sexually and develop better plot/characters to support the porn I like to write.

Finished two novels. One is edited and due for publishing around the first of the year.

Didn't finish as many short stories as I wanted but money take precedence over fun writing.

What genre is the novel?

I found that if you have a goal, that you might not reach it. But if you don't have one, then you are never disappointed. And I gotta tell ya... it feels phenomenal.

*sigh* 10 stories posted the whole year, and the longest was probably around 7k words.

That counts one only posted on another site, ( because it was flash, and that does very poorly elsewhere ) and two only posted on my website because I felt like it.

The one probably should have went everywhere, because it's a really good story in my Dark pen name, but I decided to stick to my guns since it was originally started as a website exclusive.

At least those who take the time to seek it out get a genuine treat for the effort.

That's...interestingly cavalier. But...disappointment should be a natural motivator. What's wrong with having something to work towards? Thinking it'll end in a disappointment is sadly pessimistic.

I didn't post my goal for this year in the other thread. My goal seems rather simplistic compared to everyone else but my goal was simply to write a story that earned a red H. Winning a contest was an unexpected but very encouraging bonus :)

Next year? Enter the Valentine's Day contest with the intention of winning (though I hear when you TRY to win is when you lose :D), have another novel sized story for Halloween, and write something in two categories besides EH.

Valentine's Day....You can't win. Basically if you win you are not eligible for two contests.

You'll have to "Bring it" for Earth day. Which I won this year because....I hate the damn theme, so yeah, that's how it works.

Laurel has since reworded that on Patientlee's suggestion.

It's now officially that you're not eligible for back-to-back contest wins. So, you can place in every other contest.

Individuals are not eligible to place in two consecutive special contests in a row. For example, if you win Summer Lovin', then you are not eligible for Halloween. You are, however, eligible to win in the Winter Holidays contest

And there is no Earth Day this year. It's April Fools.

I missed that....I seemed to miss April Fool's officially being announced.

But every other contest wouldn't be the "six months" that was the rule for a long time.

Jeez you blink here and its all over.

That was apparently what Laurel intended, and the original contest schedules may have very well worked out that way. Tweaking things over time probably messed up the original intention.

Once I posted how it worked out, based upon the answer Laurel gave me, Patientlee pointed it out, and Laurel changed it to reflect what she intended, rather than what it boiled down to.

All you have to do to earn a red H is post a story with "Daddy" in the title in Incest. Not hard to do.

You've just given me some new goals for next year.

Just as a follow up, I was only (semi) kidding about my quote. That is straight out of the movie "Dodgeball" and seemed appropriate for this thread.

I wouldn't count on that. With the high vote totals and trolling there, it's quite easy to fall below 4.5.

Now, if you want to get a phenomenal number of views, post anything with "Mom" in the title and/or ( to a lesser extent ) the description.

You could get 50k views by posting two pages of the phone book with "Mom" in the title.

Or mommy.....bro/sis seems a little harder...

But that's why I don't care about my incest scores. Getting H's in other categories means more.

I still find it kind of ironic that I'm "known" mostly as an incest writer, but my contest W's are in other categories and two of my three highest ranked stories are in mature

Just look at the last 30 day toplist for Incest. You have 3+ out of 5 pages are below 4.5. And that's the best scoring stories in the category.

It's not a high scoring category. Highly read, and you'll get a lot of voting, comments, and favorites, but not your best bet for a high score.

Honestly I don't pay a lot of mind, but for me....the thing is I have a large fan base in the category and its at that point where unless I set out to write a clunker they are going to give a five. So I know longer take my scores seriously over there.

I think the fans are "friendly" voters, but because of its high squick factor it gets a lot of trolls.

I just noticed that I wrote "expected" instead of "unexpected" in my previous post which makes me look like a total bitch. Why do I not re-read my posts?:(

Incest is probably the only category that I feel I couldn't do it justice. I have no family other than my two spouses and our two kids (who are almost 6) so I have a huge disconnect toward why people find it hot. Sure I could substitute every instance of "Jenny" with "Mommy" but whats the fun in that?
