Alright. Yet another question from the current psycho.

If you have taken this drug and care to tell me about your own personal experience, I would appreciate it.

Doc gave me a 'script this am.
Tell me how it worked for you,
what your best dose was,
what the out-of-pocket cost was to you,
if your family noticed your improvement, i
f you changed to or from Zoloft and why,
and any other bit of info you wish to share.

Thanks.

OK...

I'm on Paxil, my wife's on Zoloft. They're both SSRI's and essentially have the same affect, so here goes.

Works wonders - we'd be divorced without it

100mg in summer, 150 in winter (we're in WI, so depression gets worse without the big orb in the sky....)

OOP costs vart depending on insurance, but $20 per bottle (1 month) is average

Yes, everyone notices a difference. It takes 6 weeks to fully get into your system, but you'll notice a + change within the first week

Switching - yes, you can switch to another SSRI, if after 9-12 months your body gets too used to the one you're on. Paxil, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Prozac, they all work. Switching is no big deal.

Hope this helps!

I was on Zoloft for about 3 months before i just stopped taking it.

It kinda sent my sexdrive haywire.

REALLY haywire.

I was on Zoloft for three weeks before I was taken off of it. I couldn't eat on it. Lost lots of weight, but was looking really sick.

Got on prozac a while back and that has turned all my problems into bigger ones so I am taking myself off that.

Hope it works for you.

just lucky i guess

been on zoloft for over a year...love it
on depakote as well.

my cost is 5$ a month each

my dose is 50 mg i think. the little blue one

you should expect to have som tremors the first 2 to 3weeks. in fact if you don'tthe dose probably isn't high enough. they'll go away after that. if they don't don'tr simply take yourself off the drug. talk to your doc and see if lowering the dose works.

Took Zoloft for a year, then recently tried it again. I can't say it worked well for me. Either time. The first time it created a stomach ache most of the time. Almost constant, mild ache. The second time, it just didn't help me. Then again, I'm bipolar, so I have to have a mood stabilizer AND a anti-depressant. It a delicate balance.

I get that way, too....

Every person is different with respect to how it works. Stats show the negative side affects occur in less than 5% of patients, and could be indicative of other medical or psychological problems. Consult your doctor, but don't be paraniod about side affects.

I was on Zoloft for about one year, 100mg as I remember,Dont recall the cost as it was 10 years ago. The Zolft took away my ability to feel highs and lows, I just sorta existed in a nonconfrontational world of my own. Took away my sex drive as I recall. I dont miss it at all, as i believe highs and lows are part of life. Hope it helps you:)

My wife has been on Zoloft for 9 years. Without it, we would be divorced. She has tried a couple of other meds, but always comes back to Zoloft. In her case, it virtually distroyed her sex drive, and gives her a little trouble with sleeping, but in all other ways, she is "normal" when she takes the med. If she misses a single dose, I know.

Let me add, that changing meds is not as simple as some people seem to say. Please follow your doctor's orders EXACTLY when and if you change meds.

good luck:)

LOL--I took my first starter dose today at lunch time. Within a hour, I had a HORRID headache--felt the same as an impact to the forehead--was awful. I was not sure if it was the drug or something else that caused it. I wandered into my doc's office near the end of the day and asked her if there were any other common side effects that she had forgotten to tell me. LOL--she said, "Some people get headaches." Then looked up at my face and realized that this was exactly the side effect I was experiencing. I will halve these for the first week to reduce the shock.

Raindancer, thank you for the thread link. I will go check that out in a few minutes.

Thank you to everyone who responded. Your insights are comforting.

that's common - that's why they titrate the dose up slowly... you're probably at 12.5 right now, and will go up every 4-7 days.... you'll be fine, don't worry.....
