You're so weird

I am currently one of those "no fun" people - I dont drink coffee (caffeine doesn't agree with me), eat dairy or gluten, drink alcohol, do drugs, or smoke.
I'm vegetarian, don't smoke, no alcohol, no coffee, no drugs.
Meat and coffee I just don't like. Cigarette smoke makes me ill even when just in the room. Alcohol is temporary, since it doesn't play well with depression, and drugs just aren't interesting.

Holy shit, I've found my people!

I'm like 90% vegetarian. I eat chicken very occasionally, have been sober for over two decades because I didn't want to be like my sister, no drugs for the same reason, though I would experiment in a controlled environment with someone I trust just to have the experience and understanding of different substances. Coffee (all caffeine, I can't even have chocolate unless I want a massive migraine) makes me ill, as does cigarette smoke.

I can't live without cheese and garlic bread, though. So, I'd rather be sick than give them up.

I cant give up meat - without bread, pasta, or cheese, smoked meat is the only vice I've got left!
Good on you for realizing alcohol + depression is a bad combo. I let my use make me worse for a long time.

I've been vegetarian for almost as long as I can remember, so it really isn't a matter of giving it up in my case.
And yeah the alcohol I stopped cold on the day I started anti-depressants. Never that much of a drinker, so it wasn't a huge deal. I do miss drinking a glass of wine or beer now and then, or even just getting plastered once in a while with friends.

22 years and counting so far.

Helps to be naturally nocturnal
Mine was a 15 yr stint. And yes it definitely helps to be nocturnal, which I am but I do prefer sitting on my couch at night instead of moving boxes😂. My shift ran from 5 pm to when we got done; could be 1 am, could be 8 am. We did have fun tho.

11pm to 7 am for me.

Though, my current shift is more like 10pm to 1pm the next day on Thursday/Friday and Friday/Saturday, then 5AM until 3 PM on Sundays. And a few hours here and there as needed.

I definitely would have preferred a true 3rd shift over the split shift I did. Plus the job was extremely physically demanding so I kind of had to change when the opportunity came up; wasn't sure how much longer I would have been able to keep that up. The money was good though.

The money, benefits and familiarity are what keep me at my current job. About every six months my boss pushes for me to get a 10% raise, so I mean... Yeah, I guess I'll stay, lol.

I eat meat.

I drink alcohol.

I drink coffee.

Sometimes I smoke a cigar.

Sometimes I do these things at the same time.

In fact, sitting on my back porch in the morning, eating a sausage, drinking a whiskey-infused coffee, and puffing on a cigar while contemplating what I want to do to my garden that day is probably the closest I get to "multitasking" effectively.

Same reasons I stayed on nights all those years. Benefits are good, but when I went to days I took a massive pay cut, but worth it. And you are fortunate to have a boss who looks out for you! That's pretty rare in my experience! And 10% is fantastic. We definitely don't get that here. Corporate would never allow it.

People keep assuming I'm a vegetarian despite the fact I eat meat most days. I think it's because I like tofu.

I've smoked maybe a couple dozen times in my life, and love the taste of tobacco. I only don't smoke because of the health issues and the spouse asking me not to. Tobacco-flavoured chocolate is great stuff.

A dose of good alcohol works about as well as my other painkillers, with the same side effects, so I often choose that.

I'm sorry for those who can't/don't drink coffee. Sometimes the promise of a fresh cup of coffee is quite literally the only thing that gets me out of bed in the morning.
Truer words have never been spoken. I love the articles that say a coffee a day is linked with lower heart disease. Makes me feel good about my addiction. Ha! Now if only I exercised more.

Here's the weird, unexplainable thing I learned about myself over the last month.

I have a very strong affinity for lower-case "k".

I've been thinking a lot about how to write certain Korean words with English letters so they capture the right sound but also "look nice" in a manuscript, and one Korean letter can sound either like a "k" or a "g" depending on a few things, but often can go either way. I found myself picking "k" every time, unless it was capitalized, then there didn't seem to be a pattern to which I picked.

Anyway, if there's a contest for the maximum amount of overthinking an insignificant detail can receive, that's my entry.
