Today, for the first time in over 2 years, I went to a job interview.

Yes, it's true. Swear to Goddess.

I was happily playing CIV III, that my sweet Hubby had sent me, when the phone rings, and a guy I've never talked to before in my life calls from a company I've never heard of, and says that he has found my resume on the Unemployment Agency's webpage, and thinks it sounds promising. We talk a little, he asks me to tell him about myself, and I do so, without bothering to be modest, because modesty, I've learned, is very, very dangerous - people MIGHT take you seriously and go to someone who claims they DO know what they're doing - and then he asks me to come over for a job interview. "Sure," I say. "When?" "Well, it's pretty slow today... can you come over now?"

Hop in the shower, get dressed, put on make-up, off to the bus - and I'm in the meeting, I talk to him for 45 minutes, and I think I made a good impression, because when I left, he gave me a gift - a bottle of perfume from their newest collection - and even gave me a ride to the bus stop, so I wouldn't be late for my driving lesson!

He said they'd call me. Oh, I hope I'll get it! Or that other job, the computer technician one. When it rains, it pours, huh..?
This job was about updating a webpage, handling orders from salesmen, writing out invoices, answering the phone, organizing the structure of the company, that sort of thing.

Just the fact that they looked me up, and contacted me, because they thought I was interesting - my self confidence has really got a rise out of this!

I've been humming to myself all night! This definitely calls for a whole bunch of nanas, don't ya think?
:nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

Congratulations, Svenskaflicka.

Even if this one doesn't work out, knowing that someone is interested in the possibility of employing you is good news.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Knocking on wood, holding thumbs and crossing fingers. :)

Have you seen that scene in "Misery" when Kathy Bates dances around, chanting "She's alive! Misery Chastain is alive!" - imagine her with blond hair, and you have a pretty good idea of what my livingroom looks like tonight.:D

I just can't stop smiling!:D

<Calling police in Sweden; asking them to remove mallets from residence>

Good for you, Svenska. Dancing bananas for fun, frogs for good luck, and devils just for the hell of it.

:nana: :p:  :nana: :p:

Flicka, that's wonderful. Interviewing you for 45 mins. is a very good sign. Driving you to bus is too (unless you Swedes are naturally that considerate ;) ).

good wishes, P.

I'll keep my paws crossed and do some barrel rolls on the floor while my tail is wiggling. :)

Snoopy, woof

P.S.: Oh, I almost forgot: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

Svenska,

Wow, that sounds good. Hope you'll get it.

That would be real cool.

No, we're not. Especially since he had to lock up and leave the phone while driving me (he was the only one there today), so he really was being kind. If the bus hadn't shown up, he would have driven me to town!

Congratualtions Svenska.

I know how good it feels to have a job after a long time out of the world.

Good luck and all that.

Go get them Sven (only kidding - Svenskaflicka!) :D

Interviews are all about attitude, and the 'I haven't got anything to lose' is probably one of the best!

:rose:

My prayers go with you...

Here's hoping you get the job that you like the best doing. That's what counts the most.

As Always
I Am the
Dirt Man

Congratulations Svenska! And good luck. It sounds very promising.:)

Hello.

I do understand, every interview I ever went to terrified me.

I was always surprised when I did well. Typing very fast combined with three Degrees is helpful. LoL. It sometimes angered me to see the more attractive promote, but in the final analysis, someone had to do the work. So often, that fell to me.

I made my own decision today, a big one. I tried to go to a new man and failed miserably. His fault and my fault. The truth was I did not fit. I knew I had to make a change. I did not choose to go back, only ahead.

So I go to a new land, to work with my dream of helping others. I wish to try and help children, the ones I never had.

I signed the papers today, already a sure thing since the offer was made. I leave with a medical team in just 90 days. There is nothing to hold me here now.

Some of this same team have died there in the past on previous tours of duty.

I know the danger. I will write my own story for this site very soon, I know it could be me. I am not afraid.

{Yes I am.}

It has been fun. I doubt I will post from there, time will likely not permit. Perhaps. I also doubt that there will be an interest, so unlikely.

But You GO, Girl! You have it all going on, use it!
