I hate advertisements. First time I saw this was on youtube. I couldn't wait until the "Skip ad" option would strike, but something about it struck me. I began watching. I was so intrigued. I'm not sure if it was the initial tone of that ad or what it was.

Our culture sells women so hard on the 'perfect idea' which of course is a myth. Everyone has beauty. Sometimes it's not readily apparent. We all change. We have to be accepting.
 
This made me cry. A look at nurses throughout the ages as we take this week to celebrate being a nurse and appreciate nurses.

A Tribute to Nurses

Yesterday crossed the spectrum for me. I cried with a patient who will surely die. I played with a happy, giggling baby. I discharged a lot of patients who were happy to go home, and I admitted a few scared patients. There is nothing more gratifying than to hold the hand of a dying patient so they don't have to die alone. There are few things more satisfying than doing a simple act of kindness that somebody appreciates so deeply, like bringing them a warm blanket when they're cold. I went from 5am until 9pm without peeing once, but I wouldn't trade yesterday - or my job - for anything in the world.
 
This is my first time seeing that advertisement... and all I can say is WOW!

Thank you so much for adding it to the threads!! For those of us that have been put down all of our lives, it means something if someone else can see beauty that we don't.
