You're beautiful...

“To him she seemed so beautiful, so seductive, so different from ordinary people, that he could not understand why no one was as disturbed as he by the clicking of her heels on the paving stones, why no one else's heart was wild with the breeze stirred by the sighs of her veils, why everyone did not go mad with the movements of her braid, the flight of her hands, the gold of her laughter. He had not missed a single one of her gestures, not one of the indications of her character, but he did not dare approach her for fear of destroying the spell.”

Oh wow, BBB! Made me get all choked up. Isn't there something just simply beautiful about sign language? There is such a fluid grace to communicating with one's hands.

I took four years of ASL in college, but never have much reason to use it, I've forgotten a ton. It makes me sad.

I will also add that there isn't much cuter than the tiny hands of children signing. :D

“Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”

Wow!

What a wonderful thread. I read every post and wanted to contribute some of my thoughts.

About a month ago I was at a new bakery and wanted to bring back a bunch of sweet items back to the firm to share with everyone. . Every delicacy looked scrumptious, delicately decorated with glaze, frosting, cream etc.. It was difficult to make a decision so I bought an assortment , the owner carefully placed them in a pretty pink box. I was eager to taste them. Well, unfortunately, at first bite we all unanimously agreed that despite how delicious they appeared, this was a bakery we would not visit again. Everything was dry and bland, as if key ingredients were missing. The bakery had been hyped up so much , it was a disappointment once we took that first bite.....which leads me to say...

A woman's exterior is her shell...some are drop dead gorgeous, perfect and flawless, but once the shell is removed and the inner layer is revealed it sometimes can be a let down , as if key ingredients were missing, just as the bakery items were. A woman who possesses:

genuine kindness, not only to others but also to herself

a sense of humor that enables her to laugh so hard that her beautiful laugh lines shine thru

thoroughly enjoying food and not saying after each bite how many extra minutes she needs to run on the treadmill afterwards

being down to earth and saying what's on HER mind, not simply going along with what the majority thinks

not afraid or intimidated to tell someone , especially ME if they have their own opinion about something...that displays intelligence, shows that the wheels are turning , which is very sexy.

not reluctant to be outside and enjoy nature on a windy day because the hair will become messed up.

being able to love and let her walls come down

having the ability to express herself assertively when needed and yet remain a class act.

The list above is a small sample of key ingredients I find to be "beautiful" in a woman , there is so much more.

I simply wanted to state that I truly am one of those people that cherishes the person for who they are inside...I am sure there will be many who read this post who will doubt me and ask if I appreciate women who are physically looking knockouts....and the answer to that question is of course I do! I am comfortable enough in my own skin to even make a complimentary remark about a guy if I think he is good looking , knowing very well I am just stating a fact. But, having said that, personally for ME, I need to get to know the woman before I can feel that complete absolute attraction that ultimately makes this gent's heart race.

All of these posts are beautiful, I'll take BlueEyedGents to go please. :D :rose:
