What a great project. Would have been very interesting to be a part of.
I saw that on FB the other night too. There is so much truth in it. True beauty comes from loving yourself.
This has always been a favorite of mine... another Dove campaign:

I saw this yesterday and also shared on my FB page... it is amazing and oh so true!
Great video, thank you for sharing
Thank you, you are so sweet for sharing this, BBB! It is difficult to love yourself sometimes, when parts of society tell you that "normal" is a size 0 with 44DDD breasts, platinum blonde hair, and a plastic looking Barbie doll face. I love that the people here invariably look beyond that!![]()
Thank you for starting this thread. It's a tangible reminder to us. All around us we are bombarded by images of the "ideal" woman. Heck, even the porn we watch is filled with those types. It's hard for we average ladies to stay positive and confident. The Dove campaign is poignant and well run. Bravo BBB.
And thank you![]()

That was awesome.

RA - this is a part of that ad campaign.
The thing is that most men aren't like the men in ad campaigns, but men don't care that they don't look like models. They're more likely to think that the models look ridiculous....
Thank you for posting this...I viewed it elsewhere. It reminded me of a study I read yesterday how Botox users, because of their lack of expression somehow affects their inner happiness. The inability to stretch those facial muscles and truly smile has some relevance to mood. I think we, as women, and men, need to see we are beautiful in our individual ways.
Personally, I'd love to be part of an experiment such as this with the sketch artist. How do I see me, and how do others see me...

I already knew you had a special way of making a person feel beautiful, but this thread reinforces that feeling. Thanks Brad![]()
This thread immediately made me think of this story by David foster Wallace, and portrayed really well, I think, by John krasinski. The story involves the instantaneous judgments often made by people based on the way others act, or dress, or identify themselves. And how, when faced with the mortar that makes up the real character and souls of these people, how unbelievably shallow and empty you feel for not understanding what makes someone beautiful.

I think that video is really interesting. I have no idea how I would describe myself. However, because of society and my experiences, I have never felt beautiful. Even now that I have a man that truly loves me, I hide this fact from him. It's really hard to learn to love yourself but I'm the closest I've ever been. Thank you for sharing that video.
What!? You're crushing my dreams, man!

Butterflies can't see their wings.
They can't see how beautiful they are, but everyone else can.
People are like that.

Thanks for the reminder that we are all pretty damn special in our own way...![]()

That was a really interesting monologue. Thank you for posting that!
I could have written that post. Except that my husband, who loves me, knows this about me. And it hurts him.
As a husband, I totally understand this.
