Many year end lists are in the papers and on TV so why not here. But this one is a little different. Reflect on yourself this past year with regards to Lit. What do you feel was your worst and best threads you started or stories you posted? Use whatever criteria you want to use. Here's mine:

Worst thread: Online Scrabble - it did not work right
Best thread: Eminem
Stories: Not applicable-I did not post any

It took me a while to answer this question. I had to go back and review the threads I've started. Since I joined Lit on September 10th, 2000, I've started 132 threads. It's an insane number, I recognize, but I honestly thought it would be a little higher. :D

Best thread: While I can't vouch for the quality of these threads, I've picked them for the importance they've had on my life.

October 27th was a slow Friday night, and I was bored, so I started picking out newbies and starting threads using their names. One of them, and the title of the thread, was BlondeBeauty. We started talking, and we started flirting, and one thing led to another. Who knew?

December 8th was one of the worst days of my life, and if you read a thread I started called Fragile, you'll understand why. Still, I think it's a very important thread.

Best Story: I don't have any stories here, but I used to be on the Sexual Role Playing Board quite a bit, and over there I started a thread called Beast with Countess DeWinter that was quite well received.

Worst thread: I think December 4th stands out. That's the day I was bored and started about thirty silly threads in a little over two hours, starting a trend that has pissed off more than a few members.
Worst single thread was probably Confessions Of R Nitelight, Chapter 1, in which I revealed my secret love for a somewhat uncool entertainer.

Best Thread: Would be one called Lonely from Thanksgiving weekend, I got my first troll in that thread.

Worst Thread: I have no idea I start them about things I want to talk about or to people I want to talk to so I am not sure what would be the worst.

Best Story: The only story I have started on the SRP is The Picnic and I love posting to it, although the holidays have slowed me down.

Nitelight
Fragile is one of the threads you have started that proves you are not the snide bastard you claim to be and Beast has to be one of my favorite of all the stories I have read over there. I also confessed a love for that same singer.

I'll bite.

Although I don't start many threads in the general board, I've done enough to have best and worst options. Plus I think I'll count my role play threads in the list because I do have a worst that started from there.

Best Thread: JLA(An SRP thread). Like with Nitelight, it wasn't the quality but rather the importance of this thread in my life that matters to me. To be honest, this thread was pretty bad. Everyone was getting confused with each others posts, and alot of people left in the middle of the thread. But what made this important to me, is that because of a weird number of circumstances(people leaving at certain moments mostly)my character ended up being paired up with another created by RoseThorn. So during what was left of the thread, we joked around with each other through OOC(out of character)comments and became friends. Then, after talking with each other through IMs as friends, we became more then friends. Alot of times I wonder what would have happened if I had never started that SRP thread. But I'm sure glad that I did. :)

Worst Thread: World Wrestling Federation(SRP thread). Now THIS thread was definatly something I wish I could go back and never do. This thing was a friggin nightmare to control. Everybody kept jumping each others characters and basicly pissing each other off. Bobtoad will back me up on what a disaster this SRP thread was. We talked alot through IMs at the time to try and improve things but everyone just didn't get it. I was glad when this thing died.

Best Story: Star Wars(SRP thread). Yeah I know I make to many threads based on other ideas but I have no imagination. lol Well I picked this because I don't have any storys posted(at least not at this site)so I had to pick my best RP thread. At over 1000 posts, this is not only my largest thread ever, but also the largest thread in the short history of the Literotica Role Playing boards. Not to mention that I think my best writing(as well as that of many who joined this thread)came out while working on this monster of an SRP thread. I started it in late August, and it barely ended late last month. And it's one of the few RP threads that actualy has a beggining, middle, and end to the whole thing.

So those are my picks. I know I don't have anything from the General Board, but I think the best and worst things that I've started happened in the SRP board. My best General Board thread is probably my "Freedom of Speech on the board. It goes both ways people." thread. I know it wasn't long, but it's the only serious thread that I've done here at Lit. :D

BOTH QUESTIONS, ONE ANSWER

I would have to say, "THE MOOD IS ABOUT TO CHANGE". It was the best because I created it sometime like 1 in the morning and by 1:20 AM, the thread had 2 pages of replies. In two days, I think it had gone to 4 pages. It was placed in its grave about a week and a half later.
As for it as being the worst would be because it was badly misunderstood. Myself and POOHLIVE were accused of "name calling" when in fact we were making hypothetical points. For example, there's a big difference between being called an asshole and being critizined as "acting like an asshole".

BEST STORY

I forgot about the story.......By all means, it would be "LESSON IN BIOLOGY" trilogy. That's the one story that got me many email replies and compliments. In addition, it was actually my first idea, eventhough it was not my first story.

I haven't started but one thread, Long Section of Conversation on the Editor's Forum, so I guess that would be my best and worst thread.

Worst Story - Easy, that would be Lawn Mower Torture, which at the time I'm posting this message has a 2.17 reader rating. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't put a lot of effort into the story, but I completely rewrote the story twice before I submitted it.

My Selections are...

The worst thread I started was so badly phrased that I did not get any of the responses that I thought it would when taken with the tone of the board at that time.

(On the Dilemma of Civil Rights).

The best thread and best story were the on same thread; I started with a simple idea when I reached 498 posts, I wrote and edited and rewrote and had it read by some friends, to get over the difference in language between English (English) and American (English).

I then posted a tease thread 499 as if it was my 500th post, to try to generate some interest for all the work I had put into the story.

(Field of Dreams, L.A.P. long assed post).

This story posted as a thread was a gift as my 500th post to the board.

Best thread was Shelby Wants Bobtoad. Why it ended up being the best isn't your business :)

What the heck, it's a slow night and I'm bored so I'll name my choices as well. After reviewing my posts, I find that I don't start too many threads, usually just respond to them, so that will be one of my resolutions for 2001, to start more threads (meaningful ones of course), but the ones I've selected come from the SRP...

BEST: Nathan's Road to Paradise, it's not long, but I think it's pretty well-written, especially Ticklish Girl's posts.

WORST: Truth or Dare, this thread quickly swerved completely away from my intent and I was never able to salvage it to what my hopes had been for the thread.

Best, and quite possibly worst (through no fault of my own) was X-Men (over in the SRP). I started that baby and limped along for a week without anyone else, then went on vacation for two and came back and it had 6 freaking pages! I had a heckuva time reading that, and never really got back into the story. It had some great scenes in it, and was a lot of fun. Especially since I really love the X-Men story lines. Unfortunatly, it spawned off many, many, many sci-fi, fantasy, comic book spin offs. So many, that I think they probably out number the other types right now...

I think that the Russian Sub post was good too, because it brought out a lot of different view points, and we had some decent conversations without getting all silly and orgy-like.

My worst was...my first post ever. I tried to do a summer camp thread in the SRP, but no one listened to me. :( Maybe I'll try it again sometime...
Also bad were my ones saying goodbye when I left for the semester. I don't know why I put them up.

(I haven't submitted any stories.)
