Your Lit Name

All of us here (or almost all) write under pseudonyms. We have screen names. I'm curious as to how you came up with your screen name. Mine was the name of my favorite horse to ride at summer camp when I was a kid.
Belegon is a sindarin representation of my anglo-saxon name. I am a huge LOTR fan. For my published writing, I simply added the short version of my real life middle name, so Will Belegon.

I stole it from a book which references a child's rhyme about how to spell a state I've never been to. I guess I liked the way it sounded.

And as I noted in the other similar thread I find it sort of apt: "letters" being the literary arts in general, "crooked" being generally askew. Don't ask me why I opted for the singular.

In high school, a teacher misread my first name on the first day, and she called me Elliot. So for the whole school year she called me Elliot...and of course I never corrected her because I didn't care. My first name is odd, for a first name and I liked the name so for whatever reason at some point I added "Dear"
There's a guy at my job that thinks my name is Jill, it isn't. BUT I didn't realize until like 2-3 months after he already thought that was my name so I felt weird correcting him after it had been so long, so I just go along with it.
I keep telling my other co-workers that I'll just quit my job maybe so I can avoid telling him my real name. It's just easier this way.

I had another account here, but asked for it to be deleted and all my stories removed a few years ago. When I came back and was trying to think of a username, all I could think of was way back when I used to call my mom at work and leave a message I would always start with "It's Just Me" and over the past few years I've become more apathetic in life so It's Just Me, Apathy :sneaky:

I have to pay this one! My normal username everywhere else relates to a horse or horses. XD

That being said, I didn't want what I post here to wind up being connected to those so I had to think up something else which took me way longer than I'd like to admit.

What I ended up with is the title of a song I identify with, a good song if you like country music, but could also reference Beauty & The Beast my favourite "romance" of all time, and perhaps allude to the kind of things in my stories. Since it spoke to me on so many levels I ran with it, may regret it later - who knows.

Although I play myself here in the forum, "Big Cane Sugar" is a persona I've used as a meta-narrator for certain stories. I spent a long time wrestling between that and "Big Daddy Sugar Cane." I still can't decide which I should've gone with.

I take a lot of pride in creating user names, but I regard this as one of my better ones.

I think it's a great name though. It could be taken in different ways, especially in erotic contexts, and that kind of ambiguity is the key to everything great.

Plus Beauty and the Beast is also one of my favorites. I've often imagined trying to write it with the genders switched.... You want to try?

There's definitely plenty of "versions" floating around, I wouldn't want to swap the genders - I'd probably rather just continue to keep him a part beast / part human and get on with the loving. 🫣

As I say in my profile, I'm NOT the actor. I was told many years ago that I bore a striking physical resemblance to Michael Gross, the person who played Michael J. Fox's dad (Alex Keaton) on the old tv show Family Ties. So I took the 'Michael', attached the 'Keaton'.. and now I wish I'd done something different but I didn't so here it is.

I'm a huge cliche. Love baseball, the 4th of July is my favorite holiday (because there's fireworks and baseball is on), and there's a truck in my driveway...

Hence my moniker.

I used to have a bland, ordinary screen name, then years ago I read the Bloom County strip the last panel of which is my profile pic and thought "that's the perfect name for this place" (when I participated on other boards) and kept it as my author name to avoid confusion.
