(Someone on the GB is displaying pique at the mention of moist. Dry cake ? Dry cake is sandpaper! I am indulging in moist, sugar based fantasy.)
 
My spell check needs smiting. It does not like the word. (smiting) It insists on posting any word but smiting. I am not busy caressing my cobbler. I am busy fighting with my spell check.
 
It wasn't me that doesn't like moist. I think it describes cake and pussy quite well! :D

It was juttjaw when I put up my super moist tiramisu cake for cleaver, cause he's on some diet or sumthin.
 
Actually I did get a lot of that super moist cake, because I made it! Okay, after about three days I sent a huge slab to the neighbor...because nice.

I made a huge quadruple decker carrot cake a month ago that was the moistiust cake ever! Made the gf take it to work... I hate carrot cake.
 
I finally made an interpretation of the stuffed cabbage that rjthoughts wrote of. I know he says not barley but rice, but it loved the sound of barley. In the end I found my spelt before my barley, so used that, and it was delicious: I have decided now I prefer grain to rice! And the delicious tart apple sauce and deep rye ( Gianbattista made a sour dough rye loaf at the weekend to go with this meal) . Its just so good! There are lots of cabbage rolls left over!

That sounds delicious. This place has only a microwave and provisions stocked 5 years ago. I am going to try some microwavable clam chowder. Wish me luck.

Never thought of spelt as a binder. My sister reminded me that Babci also said milk-soaked old bread worked as well.
 
In truth, its not terribly great at binding, compared to the other alternatives, but it does lighten the mix and have good flavour. My cabbage rolled well and my stuffing in side was loose, but I didn't mind that :)

We had some leftover. Son invited his friends over to taste them. They each had one roll, but had half a loaf of rye bread LOL The Polish bakery is open again.
 
I couldn't resist buying one of these Bavarian rye breads today. They will pair perfectly with the fish stew I just finished cooking. :)
