More like I have a legitimate reason to be evil as an adult. It can be traced back to my dark childhood filled with cow stomachs, liver and blood sausages, and yes, even blood soup.
Btw, I used to love both the liver and blood sausages.

Blood sausage, yes please!
Cow stomach and liver.. ummm..
Rain check! :D
Not that I have ever tried cow stomach. I try liver again every few years to the same result. Nope! Still don't like it!

You have to cook it for hours and it has a very strong smell and taste. If you thought liver was bad, think again. This is way more pungent.

I also love chicken fried liver with fresh bread. Mmm. Yum.

Yes, my dad talks about stuffed calf's stomach that his grandma would make.
He liked it!

Chicken tortilla soup.

First time attempt at food for which i have almost no cultual reference what so ever. Just pouring over food books.

Oh.......it was so good.

I also enjoyed the rare pleasure , though not sure how authentic, of grating cheese. I love how two ounces of cheese grated on a fine grater can over flow a rice bowl looking tremendously generous and gluttonous. We have enough left for a sandwich easily. Or the bowl of soup left over despite G's three servings.

Now, how soon can i reasonably make it again? Tips for improvement next time? ( besides get soup spoons out!)

Corn tortillas will hold up better with the crunchiness than the flour.

hey

Damn it. I did my meal plan yesterday and did not put liver on it and now after all the talking about and knowing you had it Gypsy, I really want it. :).

I only plan one meal a day, presuming breakfast of porridge and something really light...fruit or something, for one meal, maybe I can Angle chicken livers in as a meal on a day I plan soup for the main meal......

Elle, you might love that liver and onions even more with bacon or pancetta in it. So yummy!

That looks really great, Elle. Now you gave me a craving I'll have to do something about. :)

Yes. They also give the soup really great flavor no wheat tortilla can replace.

I did a test run last night in preparation for Christmas dinner. Sure I could have just bought an oven thermometer, but that would not have been as tasty. Last night I did butter on the sides, olive oil and freshly ground pepper all over. For Christmas I will do olive oil and brown sugar all over.
