Your First Person Characters

Well, This inspired me to go sneak a peek. I listed them all with the pertinent info, but when I previewed it … there was just a solid wall of words. So, I saved it in my stories file — not that I'll likely ever use it. But it was such a chore I can't just throw it in the trash.

Actually, it was kinda fun to see the changes over the years. I don't have a problem writing in the point of view of diverse gender and/or sexuality. Over the years, I have veered more toward first person, but I still enjoy a good third-person tale too. Anyway, sorry but I just don't think anyone would want to read that much about my stories - so I will spare you the pain and me the embarrassment

I'm just getting started, so I only have one first-person character so far, Tethys, who's a fictionalized version of a friend. My next series will feature in the first person Mimi, a fictionalized version of me! There's a lot that can be done with these two characters, and I'm not sure my imagination can internalize many people beyond this.

I have a lot more stories in mind, but all of the protagonists in those will be third person.

I have written 1st-POVs for folks of various ages and genders, but except for a couple of young-uns transformed into banana slugs, they've all been human.

I've long considered a tale narrated by a motel-room mirror, describing what it's seen in there, but have yet to get around to writing that. Alternate material narrators might be a fuck-motel's bed, a college dorm sofa, a sorority's toilet (especially on party nights), and an elevator security camera. I haven't looked for tales told from a tentacle monster's POV -- those could be quaint.

I’m going to accentuate the positive here. Three of my first-person entries are told by a young single woman, a married couple taking turns writing, and a widower around 60. They’re all modern-day, cis-straight Americans. All three stories have the Red H.
