Your first concert

The Brand New Heavies, Warrington, 1991 closely followed by Blur,Manchester G-mex 1991

Luc -I'm going to a Cliff Richard Concert in November -I'm going to be grooving with the grannies! :nana: (And I am so excited about it. I've always wanted to see Cliff in concert. yep, I'm sad.)

The Pretty Things at Leeds University, Manfred Mann at Bradford University, both around '64/'65. Strange how the world turns, forty years later, having travelled widely, here I am back in the same area again, still struggling to get away  , still searching for a meaning to my life.

I did see a band in '73 from Findlay, OH that featured Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr who later formed The Cars. Does thqat count?

Wild Cherry used to play every Saturday night at our local public pool when I was in junior high. Donny Iris would open for them.

Ah, memories. Summer pool pass. Spend all day swimming/sunning ... then dancing and drinking and smoking and flirting and slipping away to the river bank for some heavy petting. *le sigh* Those were the days.

Come on, confess some of you.

I'll bet at least for some of you, your first concert was Raffi.

Rick Springfield w/Till Tuesday circa 1983.

*jaw dropped*

Where, Logo? Me, too!!!

I saw him in Detroit... well, Pine Knob up in Holly... back when it was still Pine Knob and not "DTE Energy Theater"... Corporate sponsors run good names!

Or did I first go in 1982, when he toured with Corey Hart (Sunglasses at Night) who I also developed a crush on... ? Hmmm...

Billy Joel 1977 at a small CYC here in Pa.

Way before the jaded Christie days.

The Rolling Stones with Savoy Brown as the opening act. Philly Spectrum November 1969.

Temple Stadium in Philadelphia....1968...Janice Joplin, Jimi Hendrixx and Seatrain, a friends older brother took us, we were only 13 an wide eyed...

It's pretty much been abandoned in favor of our shiny new NBA arena, the fabulous FEDEX Forum....

If you live where I think you do, you're practically in my back yard.

I've never been to a concert. No, I'm not kidding.

First concert - a symphony in Denver somewhere in 1978. i was less than a year old. :D

First concert of choice (also first concert within driving distance of where i had been living for years) - Chris LeDoux in the high school gym in Akron, Colorado, 1994

Brooks and Dunn with Faith Hill opening the next year in Sterling
a couple of symphonies in there somewhere

nothing until i moved down here

Then at least once a month, every month, the RA would go feed his gambling addiction while i went to the concerts at the casinos in Tunica, Mississippi - he would play enough that we'd get free rooms and tickets and stuff.

First ever? Probably classical in the 1940s.

The first I remember? Not sure when but in or after 1951 at the Royal Festival Hall - classical. Too many classical concerts after that. Highlights - Segovia; Dietrich Fischer Diskau and Gerald Moore; Hoffnung.

Opera: Many at Sadler's Wells and the Royal Opera House. I had an arrangement for cheap tickets for both places in the 1960s and often went to two or three opera perfomances a week.

Ballet: First one as a Boy Scout in uniform with the rest of the troop. We had a backstage tour beforehand including demonstrations from some of the corps de ballet. That proved to us that male ballet dancers are (or should be) very fit and athletic. I think the ballerinas were more embarrassed than we were.

1956/7? Bill Haley

Skiffle - Chas McDevitt; The Vipers; Nancy Whiskey etc.

A lot in the late 1950s and 1960s including many intimate sessions at the Two I's in Soho. Hired the Yardbirds (including Eric Clapton) for a private party in the 1960s.

One I would rather forget: Frank Ifield 'I remember you' at Portsmouth.

Windsor Rock Festival: First ever appearance of The Cream

Jazz in Battersea Park - Thursday evenings in the 1960s with many famous names e.g Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Laine; Chris Barber.

Duke Ellington in Croydon at the Fairfield Halls.

1969 - Chicago Opera House - The Beach Boys and The Association.

Very enjoyable concert. Had box seats in the middle balcony.

Didn't really go to any until high school. So...

First ever: -94. Local ska band Arthur. Really bloody good. Cold have gone places if they hadn't broken up after that gig.

First that you may know who they are: -95. Climbed a fence and sneaked into the Hultsfred rock festival one night to see Massive Attack. Changed my view of music forever.

I saw several in the seventies but always with someones parents in tow...and I am not sure I could say who was first. The first thought that jumped out was America ("Horse With No Name") or The Beach Boys.

The first concert ticket I bought with my own money and provided my own way to without any parental company was Missing Persons & Wall of Voodoo in 1982.

And since my very first concert I have seen so many, all top groups, I can't count.

Worked at a venue here in Chicago for 3 years...during the 3 years I saw the likes of:

The Rolling Stones
Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton
Earth, Wind and Fire
Styx
Rush
The Police
Charlie Daniels Band (New Years Eve Concert - Played 'til 3 in the morning)
Grateful Dead
Genesis
Molly Hachet
...too many to remember! Oh and I got paid to be there! :D

Evanesence. 2003-ish.

Guess I came to live music kinda late, huh?
