Your First Comment?

In another thread, there was a discussion about first followers. That made me wonder about the first comment on my first story.

Here's mine. What was yours?

Mine was from Anonymous, saying,"There's nothing here but smut." Which was a bit of a surprise to me, because back then I thought Lit was a site for sex stories.

It was actually pretty nice one. The piece was written for somebody, wasn't originally meant to be published. But some stuff happened and I posted it. Never thought about how it must look to others and was rather surprised by most of the reactions.

Very descriptive and well written. I see possibilities for another chapter or chapters that include confrontations with the characters' significant others.

Thus acquainting me early on with the fact that a huge proportion of the comments I'd get would be people requesting sequels, lol. Which is gratifying in its way, but which gets stale quickly.

Mine was from a real person with a real account, but I won’t violate their privacy. It was almost a story in itself, so I’ll just quote the first paragraph:

I enjoy being nude, so this adventure with a like-minded girlfriend was fun to read! I also enjoyed the way you covered a range of experiences at the "Scenic Motel," without bloating the story. Many other authors might have delivered a story that was two or three times longer, by giving every blow by blow, every lick by lick, every single stroke, and so forth. Thanks for not doing that!

They then went on to scold me about tense problems. It was my first story and was written and edited piecemeal, so no wonder. Hopefully I’ve improved since then!

Good job! I like the rustic feel of it. Flanks! Ha! How very farmish! I really liked the story. You explained everything at just the right parts. I'd like to read more of your stuff, if it's all this good.

Good ol' Anonymous user, who does get around: "Very good story and well written You have left in several silly typos that spoil the flow. I’d guess you dictated this. A writer as good as you wouldn’t put “in” when they mean “and”."

I didn't dictate it, I am merely lazy. I worked with an editor and updated it after, and the update is up now.

I was just happy anyone read it.

Fairly certain I was pleased to receive this comment, but I don't remember it. But I've kept on writing, and comments like this one give me incentive to continue.

Unless you have another account, it looks like Rivals Ch1 was your first (by post date), and the comments there are pretty complimentary.

No, I actually published a series of 20 or so stories about the Goddess of Love first. I asked Laurel to delete them because they were quite personal (the characters are essentially my wife and me), and I was never comfortable with the general public reading them. Luckily barely anyone did.

As the first rating I received - on that same story - was a one-bomb, it was nice to hear at least Anon liked it!

That was on 'Beth's Summer Break Pt 1' in Feb 2017. They never commented on any of the other ten parts and the only other comment I got on that story was four and a half years later
