Your First Car.

I had a 79 mustang with a four cylinder in it. It had a lumpy cam, 2bbl carb and header down the side of the block with some chrome rims. Ya have to remember this is way before the whole fast n furious thing happened and my Dad, wouldnt trust me with a 5.0 (does drive it like you stole it sound familiar?). Anyways, this one was my fave for a while, till I got TBoned, which moved me into my next car...another mustang.

I had a Suburu with 150,000 miles on it. The body had more bondo than metal. It was a perfect starter car because it wasn't fast enough to get me into trouble and it didn't matter if I wrecked it. Then again, it may have had something to do with how long it took me to get laid. :D

I didn't pass my driving test until I was 42 years old....I shared a car then with the ex....until I got the chance to buy my own car. It was a gleaming black Fiat Uno Sport, with gold stripes along each side, and coffee coloured cord upholstery. I LOVVVEEEDDD that car, until a farmer's wife in a Range Rover shunted into the back of me and reduced the length of my car by 8 inches (I was stationary), and left me with whiplash and a permanent weakness in my upper spine.

This picture is a little like it. Take off the racing insigia and advertising, and add the gold stripes along the side....and it's not far off.

It was a 1978 Olds Delta 98 like this one only mine was seafoam green in color. It was 1990 and I wasn't spoiled, I think my parents wanted to humiliate me and keep me from getting too far at the same time.

Little did they know just how far you actually went in that thing :D

Here it is, the 1978 Dodge Aspen. I bought it myself in 1991 and I loved it. Mine was ivory with a camel faux leather interior. Sweet.

A Fiat 126, red. So so cute, but it kept breaking down.

It had an 800cc engine - it was basically a tin can with a rubber band engine, but a great starting car, because it taught you to deal with all kind of awkward driving situations, like 0-50 (it couldn't do 60) in 20 minutes, breaking down in the middle of junctions etc...

Mind you, great for an 18 year old, because you could fill it up for eight quid...

My MGB did too. Having AAA was mandatory.

(For those not familiar - AAA is a roadside assistance plan, towing included)

I am so glad you put this post up.

My first car was a Turbo New Beetle in bright yellow... $400+ car payments.

Here I am years later and the payments sucked so bad that I cannot buy a new car... not even the PERFECT me car (VW Fahrenheit GTI... it's such a wonderful shade of orange!) because VW keeps coming back with a $400 dollar car payment and even I could afford without a problem my entire mind and body seizes at the 400.

*GACK!!!!*

Plus the beetle is a little beast :)

1972 Datsun 510 in Orange.

Here's a pick of one that someone turned into a racing vehicle... mine looked nothing like this except in body style.

had some great times in that little car... not always driving it. ;)

when it died I bought a '72 (or '73?) Chevy Nova straight six...paid $300.00 for it. Worked on it all the time...it looked like a heap, but it could move. I got a lot of tickets in that car.

I only wish I had a pix....1961 Rambler.....very cool ....very nerdy!
....cost $50.... :D

1955 Chevy 210 2 door sedan. Black with a grey interior.

Short block 283 V-8 with a 4 barrel carb. dual pipes and 4 on the floor Hurst shifter.

Bought it from a buddy of mines brother.

Ran like a scalded dog.

Had it for six years and traded it in on a Olds 442.

I wish I had it now. Or the Olds for that matter. :D

My next car...after crashing the Nova...was a '70 Roadrunner. :)

OMG Im in love...I wanted a car like that so bad but my parents said no...oh well.

My first one was a '67 Chevy pickup...white, blue interior and the heaviest bumpers I think have ever been put on a truck. It had a 283 V8, 3 speed on the column that loved to get stuck in gear...you had to get under the hood and fix it for it to shift. Wish I still had it with drivers around here LOL.

First car.... a humpback 51' Plymouth with a flathead six and a three on the tree... Kelly green with a gray interior...

Bought it from a junk yard for $25 when I was 13... spent two years doing a full restoration thanks to help from a mechanic at the dealership...

Two years later i traded it for a brand new '64 Plymouth sports furry, two door hardtop with a 426 and a four speed... I still had that car until my wife died in 89' and I sold everything I owned...

Yeah, I was crazy.... I realize that now.....

I keep seeing the thread title as "Your First Czar." -- and I'm thinking, "Damn! I haven't had one of those (yet)."

My first car was a '73 Plymouth Duster -- dark green -- more duct tape than metal. I first blew my soon-to-be ex husband in the backseat of that car.

Learned to drive on a '66 Chevy Biscayne. Stick on the column.

The first car I bought was a '82 Honda Prelude. It was a sweet two door with cream leather and moon roof. 5-speed manual. It was a sexy beast of a car and I loved driving it. Fast, sexy, hot car. Just what every college age girl needs. ;)

My first car was a black 76 AMC Pacer. I liked the body, and the fact that it hardly had any blind spots, but man did I ever have trouble with it. It went through 2 starters and 3 solenoids. The exhaust pipe came loose from the manifold and about four times a year I'd have to take it in to Meineke to have it tightened back up, otherwise my car filled up with carbon monoxide gas.

Learned to drive in a 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook.

My first car was a 1977 Dodge Aspen. 6 cylinder with a three speed + overdrive floorshift. I drove it for 7 years.

A 1985 or 1988 Dodge Omni. It was the dodge version of the VW Rabbit.
It was a small 4 banger and I loved the POS when it ran. I called it my goat because it never lost traction and my Rez Royce due to the indian reservation nearby. It had a 4-vent airconditioner (windows) and when i would turn on the radio the engine would blow a fuse.

My first car was a surprisingly durable 1988 Volkswagen Fox. Sold me on VWs for life.

But my favorite was a '69 Impala hardtop SS I bought for 300 bucks and spent another 1200 refurbishing. Loved that thing. 327 shortblock V6, alloy rims, racing tires, two-tone black/white paint job. I didn't change anything on the inside, and took pride in the original dash and radio.

Nothing like sitting behind a rumbling engine that makes the car cant back and forth at a light . . . then taking off and leaving that late-model streetrodder in the dust :D

Just like Starsky

74 Ford Grand Torino, '2-door. Just like Starsky and Hutch drove (in 76) except mine was blue. Bitchin' car.
.

PINTO....
Cherry red...5 speed 4 cyl.
Drove the shit out of that car...it was my beaching car..
Backed in to a lot of people before i understood what backing out of a parking space was all about.
She finally broke down a couple years later in PA. and before i could get her...they towed it and i didnt give a fuck anymore...
I was so pissed, cause i didnt know they did that!

Silver Honda city. It was 12 years old and never gave me a day of trouble. I could run down fences and poles and leave no scratches ( I did rip of the bumper bar, but again, no paint scratches - I have a lot of off road incidents!). It was tiny, no airconditioning, but could carry seven drunk guys. My brother stuck a 'no fear' sticker on the back window - it was still there when I last saw it around - but he should have got me a "fear this"!
