Every once and awhile, as authors, we put pen to paper and create a gem; a sentence or two that shines like a diamond and makes our stories worth reading. Sparkling and polished, brilliant and bold, we, by the merciful grace of some writing god, give birth to a few lines of type that make us stand back and declare, “Shit, if I could only write one of these per paragraph rather than per story, I could make a living at this!”

Well, at least I do.

So I thought it would be neat to start a thread where part time, hack authors, like myself, could display their gems for others to admire.

Simple enough, just post what you think are some of the best lines you have written from one or two of your stories or poems. Then every one can mull them over and discuss them if you like and after, we can all go out for a beer. First round is on me!!!!!!!!

I’ll start. These two quotes are from my latest tale, This Little Piggy. I could not decide which was better, so I posted them both…….

“Unlike the night in her bathtub, tonight Tammy's feet carried the musky odor of a days work mixed with the leathery aroma of her new shoes. Cosmo had been growing steadily inside his trousers since he began his journey under the table, but it was this pungent bouquet that opened the floodgates within his cock, filling it to capacity with blood and leaving a small daub of precum inside his underpants.”

”White semen glistened on black nylon like mother of pearl on a jewelers cloth and when Tammy lifted her glazed feet to his breathless mouth, he hesitated, only for a moment before licking his dripping load from her beautiful toes.”

Literary 'gems'

This is an extract from A Modern Love Story. It may not qualify as a literary gem but some might find it amusing.
Ben, the husband is explaining to Kelly, his wife, why she should take every opportunity to have sex with her lover during their holiday together.

"It's simple really. When you think about it, all three of us want the same thing. So, make the most of the opportunity. If you want to fuck him, or if he wants to fuck you, then do it. It doesn't matter whatever else you're doing."

"Whatever else I'm doing?" Her incomprehension was obvious.

"Well, not literally, Kelly! I don't mean if you're shopping in Sainsbury's or whatever the Majorcan equivalent is!"

Thanks Octavian, for the great quote and for getting this thread rolling. The dialogue sounds even better to me as I listen to it in my brain in the British accent I am 99% sure you meant it to be heard in. I look forward to reading the entire piece, all 12 pages of it, when I get the time. Thanks again!!!!!:)

The best thing I ever came up with is "Sarcasm is the poetry of a cynic."

Best quotes usually aren't mine!

Whenever I leave the house, I usually have a journal or at least a pen within arm's reach. Thus, most of my best bits of dialogue are things I've heard while out and about. Some of these gems are:

"I'm too big to fit in a man sandwich." (Soon to be the opening line in my next story)

"You're as country as a dozen eggs." (a blues lyric)

"I'm not going to ask personal questions...So, are you married?"

"I'd be screamin' like a raped ape."

"Tomorrow always starts on Christmas." (a favorite of my wife)

A colloquialism for cunnilingus: "Tonguing the papaya"

"I loved that place until we cleaned their carpet."

I have dozens more. The best one I could think from my work posted here (off the top of my head), was this one from "Gym Shower."

"Wendy's wet cunt was calling me, daring me to dive in and taste this other woman's saliva all over my wife's lips. I tried to imagine iron bars keeping me back. Clearly, if my cock could somehow hold a blunt instrument, it would've been beating the utter shit out of me."

Flash,

I have to say there are a couple of little gems amongst that lot for sure. If you think of more, please post them, or aleast post them to me. I promise I won't pinch them. :)

These aren't mine, but they do make me smile:

"Give a man a free hand and he'll run it all over you."

"It's not the man in your life that counts, it's life in your man"

Of my own, but now where near as witty, I kind of like:

"Scarlet gloss was smeared carelessly over her full lips. She had a slut's mouth. The kind that begged to be fucked without speaking a single word."

Have a great day now,

Alex (fem)

KM, I have read many of your stories and you have an entire jewelery store full of gems!!!!!!

Thanks for the post!!!!

I tried to resist this thread, but can't, damn it! God save me from my pride. Here are some snippets that I personally like.

I'm often drawn to showers as a backdrop to sex:

In a matter of moments, Rockwell felt his come surge through his shaft and shoot out like a geyser. As he spurted deep into her pussy, he held her immobile, her face pressed up against the tile. The water continued to cascade down their bodies in scalding rivulets, the steam sequestering them in obscurity.

Sometimes I find that when I keep in mind the profession of a character, a lovely simile will come to me:

Naked, he came to me. I clutched his shoulders. He was as unyielding and dense as the marble he sculpted; yet he was also warm and full of fire, and life, and lust.
----
I reveled in the peculiar exhilaration that came from pleasuring a man with my mouth. The rush of power lingered inside me like a sustained echo.
----
I struggled within myself for the humility I needed to bend like Benedetta had suggested, but youth can sometimes masquerade as wisdom. Pride can sometimes seem like courage of conviction.

literary gems 2

Time to regale you with another example of my purple prose, this from a forthcoming story.
This story is yet to be posted, indeed it is yet to be written, but I might have just started it.

"He powered into her like a train (excepting the 18.30 service to Milton Keynes which is often running very slowly because of maintenance on the line, and which sometimes even comes to a stop, which of course it always does at Hemel Hempstead and Bletchley because the service is only a semi-fast one and indeed doesn't run at all on Sundays.)"

Great quote Flashlight. Wonderful metaphors. It is even better when read in the context of your story, which is first-rate by the way. Another little beauty that jumped out at me as I read Gym Shower was…..

“She held onto this woman's strong ass with both hands and sucked up every last drop as this woman came nearly as much as the showerhead.”

Thanks for the story........ and the post!!!!!

Wow Alex, this quote got me a little arroused in the pants just rolling the visual around my filthy little brain!!!!

What story is it from? I would love to read how you describe the rest of this womans anatomy!!!!!!!

I am working on replying to all of these new posts but in the mean time I wanted to thank everyone for the great response to this thread. As a newbie to Literotica, I am honored by the A-List of Lite authors who have submitted posts so far and look forward to even more in the future!!!

In the mean time, here is one more that I wrote this AM….

“Her body was a work of art, sculpted by God Himself for the viewing pleasure of all mankind. She was a Botticelli that made other women look like a Bob Ross.”

Thank you again!!!!!!! M.A.Thompson

The opening to a forth coming story:

"Pardon me sir, Your fly is open."

It was one of those voices that just reaches inside a man and twists the valve that redirects blood from the Big Head to the Little Head. I was almost afraid to turn and look at the speaker.

He powered into her like a train, slowing down to a dead stop just before the station, and sitting there for twenty minutes with the sperm unable to leave but starting to look up from their newspapers and mutter uncomfortably about when they would be able to leave.

Very slowly he began to reverse, then stopped again. A great deflating sigh escaped him. A strong metallic miasma overpowered all other smells.

Beautiful simile Coolville. I really like this one. May I presume, seeing it comes from your journal, that this is a non-fictional remembrance of a lady and her dress? For myself, a writer’s interpretation of something he has witnessed with his own eyes, rather than just his minds, is twice as absorbing. Thank you.

You and me both. You just made me realize that both of my posted stories, without intention, have shower scenes. Well, one is in the bath. Does that count?

All great quotes, but this is my favorite!!
Thank you!!

I'm Obsessed With Dialogue

[Although Marlene has consented to have sex with Rucker, a man who's just committed armed robbery, he continued to play a power game by placing a loaded weapon right between the cleavage of her breasts.]

"Still, I'll bet these big nipples of yours could nurse a lot more babies."

"Not if that gun goes off and blows a hole through one of them."

Rucker laughed. "It isn't the gun you have to fear. It's this other loaded barrel that I'm liable to shoot off inside you that you should worry about."

"Is that so?"

"Um-hmm--Danger! Live ammunition."

"Should I be frightened?"

"Aren't you?"

"Let me think about it." My body was becoming more and more enraptured surrounded by the sinewy grip of his mahogany arms, the smooth, muscular feel of his chest contrasted by the tiny prickles of his chest hair, and the surprisingly gentle probing as he bathed his fleshy thickness in my warmth, repeatedly driving for the perfect slide of his penis within the happily wet clasp of my body. "Frighten me some more."

This one isn't mine, but I hear it several years ago. I dont remember where from, just that I love it.

"I'm a jumpy as a virgin at a prison rodeo!"

Hahahha! That one is superb.

Only saying I've never used (and it's not dirty what-so-ever)

... When I'm about to go somewhere:
"I'm out like a fat kid in dodgeball."

Cruel....so very cruel.

From a Mae West film....

"Goodness had nothing to do with them."

Ms. West had some of the best lines!\:D/
