I know there were some older threads for under 25...but honestly I couldn't find them, so I thought I'd start another one. I don't know if I want to make an age limit, but I thought it would be cool to start a thread for the younger people on lit, since there don't seem to be many. Nothing against the older members, since there are many great ones. But anyway I'm a 20/M...are there any other younger members out there?

I'm 24. And if this thread is gonna stay we really need to find a topic t discuss, or else it will just be "I'm 24", "I'm 21" etc.

So here are a few possibilities:

Topic#1. The decline in language skills brought on by instant messaging.

Topic#2. Ipods vs Vinyl.

Topic#3. What age do breasts get saggy?

Topic#4. Why do old peope feel the need to call talkback radio stations and tell everyone about their medical problems?

OK, someone can decide or post some more!!

Wow, the decline of language as brought on by instant messaging? A nice light topic for the evening. :) I think signs of the decline of language go even further back too. Quik-Mart...X-press lane...E-Z Pass(that one is so ironic). But yeah, IM has definitely made things worse, because now you can spell out entire phrases with a nonsensical assortment of letters. Is that what you were thinking about?

That'll do nicely. What I hate most about it is the fact that it makes people sound like they're thirteen. And the worst part is that kids are taught that it's fine to communicate like that! What the fuck is wrong with people?

Language is so much more than just sterile, shallow communication. Soon all of the great literature will be translated into fucking infantile, abbreviated messages that you can recieve on your phone for $2 each pair and we'll be recycling books to use them as toilet paper and eventually we'll all die out because we were too stupid to leave anything worthwhile for future generations of whatever beasts will rule the planet. (Draws breath) That feels better!

Hey everyone, I'm 19...

Yeah, my language has gone to hell due to using IM clients...

Extrm, that is an amazing stomach you have.

Thanks for the compliment. Now, about the decline in the language, it's sad but true. Ok, I'm guilty on it when I'm doing an instant message on my cell. But when I hear people actually talk like that in person, it's shocking. Have you seen that phone commercial when the mom was talking to her daughter and she's answering in abbreviations? Do we even wanna call it that? Society no a days lives in such a fast paced life that everything is being shortened. I go to Disney and I see people with shirts saying "BFF". Does it cost to much to spell it out? When it's chatting on line or messaging on the phone, I can understand, like I said, I'm guilty of it, lol, see what I mean.

I'll second that. She must work out!
OK, now we've got a thread with lots of pert young bodies in it! We're the hottest posters on lit! Everyone else is sooooo jealous of us. We're the "IN" crowd.
And we're modest as well so that makes us even more cool and unapproachable.
It's just like in school, only less people here think I'm a slut!

young people are lazy. Always looking for an easier way to do things. So anything that is shorter, why not? It's the same thing with jobs, and with friendships, and with everything. Young people, more and more, end up wanting to do things the easy way and end up doing nothing at all.

Society can be blamed for that as well. Our society is being built in a way to make everything go faster and shorter. It's made this way to save time on our very busy life. Kids now a days sees that on their parents cause they hardly have any time to stay home and cook or have a family dinner. I'm not saying all, but they are out there. It's being shown on television shows, movies, being sung on music, and so on and so forth.

But it all comes back to the fact that young people are taught from a young age that they can have anything they want, do anything they want, etc. Older generations didn't have that. Children were seen but not heard. Now every kid is marketed to directly by advertisers who know that their parents aren't going to say no to them in case they get upset.

So in fact, I blame the baby boomers for everything wrong in society today. They have let consumerism run rife. It is their fault, not we, the innocent, fragile and naive youth of today.

1. stfu n00b, lol
2. I can't take my record player on the train.
3. My moobs will stay pert all my life, just you wait.
4. Who bothers listening to those in the first place?

I give this thread a shelf life of about a week. There have been others like this and they always die out quickly, or get periodically resurrected to no avail.
