Police question twelve-year-old-mum



In Britain a girl who's become a mother at the age of 12 is to be interviewed by police who say they regard her as the victim of a sex crime.

A police spokesman said the questioning will form part of an inquiry launched to establish who is the father of the baby boy.

The girl who has become one of Britain's youngest mothers had the baby in the bathroom of her home in Rotherham in the north of England last Thursday.

It's been reported that a man has already approached police but they say they cannot interview him because the girl is yet to make a formal complaint.

Hello Dolf, but to be honest, a lot of girls have sex at very early ages. A means of self confidence? Think back. Most girls were menstruating by 11 or 12 in my day. Therefore, if she had relations with a guy and was not knowing of the proper protection, pregnancy occurs. Sounds to me as if parents are making her a victim. Parents can teach the proper methods of protection, but if they do not instill thought of self into the young one, they wll seek it in other matters. JMO

because it's physically dangerous to give birth before your body is mature enough...would you want to lose bowl & bladder control?
because women who are sexually active at a young age are statisically at a far greater risk of cervical cancer.
because a twelve year old isn't old enough to be responsible for a child.
because it will effect her education.
because children should be the result of relationships, not drunken fumbles.

Society and Laws say lots of things. But the heart of the matter is what veryblueeyes said.


Physically, women have had young pregnancies for hundreds of years. The human race won't be on the edge of extinction cause of young pregnancies.

Sex is good. Kids masturbate young, if given the opportunity they may have sex young.

Tell them the risks, protect them but reality is an intruder.

I like the way you think but... In the early 1700's and 1800's, 13 was the age of childbearing. Law? That is society placing their standards on human nature. Since the industrial revolution, we have made the age limit of what we, as society, judge being able to raise a child. *babbling*

i think it must come down to the parents...we all need to talk to our kids more. fill them with confidence and respect for their bodies.

when I worked at a hospital here,,I was at a department that handled the eguipment,supplies,etc.And we would get printouts of the patients list of what they had used,needed each day.The name and age was on there,,with a few other things.It was not uncommon to see 12 year olds in the labor and delivery department.I think the youngest I saw was 9 years old.

Really doesn't cut it when you're dealing with a too-young body with no prenatal care, no assistance during birth and all the fun NOT FEEL GOOD! abuse and neglect that tends to come from that, toward the mother and the infant.

Giving birth in your bathroom isn't a reasoned response to wanting to safeguard the life you're producing.
