This is loosely based on the cartoon that the idiots over at CN just cancelled. I say loosely because I am leaving a lot of room to craft the world as we go.

Here is a quick rundown:

People with special powers have always existed, but the terms "superhero" and "supervillain" first surfaced in the early 1930s, during the Prohibition. With the dramatic spike in crime, heroic individuals stepped forward, many wearing masks to conceal their identities. This ultimately led to the formation of the Justice Society of America in 1940, with such noble heroes as Hawkman (Carter Hall), the Flash (Jay Garrick), and Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) in leadership positions.

In 1942, due to international pressure, the JSA was dragged into World War II. In 1945, it was discovered immortal warrior Vandal Savage and a group of villains, labeled the Injustice Society by the press, had been involved with the Axis powers. Savage had caused many problems in recent years, and so he was placed in a maximum security cell at the newly constructed Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary in Louisiana, where he would remain for decades.

After the war, the JSA were more popular than ever, with comic books, toys, lunch boxes, and even cereals being made in their honor. The second half of the forties was a golden age for superheroes, but in 1951, due to the public and the government pressuring them to once again go to war -- this time in Korea -- the Justice Society disbanded. The team was divided over the issue, which aided in the split. Afterwards, half the team left the superhero life behind and retired. The other heroes either went their own way or joined the war effort.

For the next fifty years or so, smaller teams came and went, but nothing as big as the JSA. Not until the Justice League was formed in 2003. A few years before that, in 1998-1999, heroes like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman surfaced, eventually leading to the creation of the League.

It is now the year 2013. The Justice League of America has been around for ten years, and the story starts with a tenth anniversary party at the Hall of Justice in Washington DC. The Hall is not the League's true headquarters, however -- they have a space station -- the Watchtower -- which is concealed from both sight and radar using Martian cloaking technology provided by J'onn Jonzz, the same technology used to make Mars appear deserted to outsiders.

I will play Nightwing right off the bat, and then later on I will bring in Superboy and play him as well. That will happen during a mission to Cadmus similar to the YJ show, which will occur after we've had a chance to establish the world and characters.

Shukaku has claimed Terra and Remec has claimed Beast Boy.

Just create your characters and we'll start with them at this celebration, and then once we've all had a few posts, Joker and a few of his friends will crash the party and our first fight will ensue. After that our characters, for whatever reason, decide to become a team and we go from there. I don't want to plan too much in advance, so we'll just start here and see where it goes. If you have any questions, please ask.

Real Name: Richard “Dick” Grayson
Age: 18
Birthday: June 22nd
Birthplace: Gotham City, New Jersey

Skills

Dick possesses the peak athletic strength and endurance of a man who regularly engages in extensive physical exercise. His martial arts skills rival those of Batman, and he was rigorously trained by his mentor in everything from escapology to criminology, fencing, stealth, disguise, and numerous other combat/non-combat disciplines. He is fluent in a number of languages and had the finest education as Bruce Wayne's ward.

Gear/Equipment

Dick has a number of gadgets in his utility belt, including shuriken that explode on contact, a pen that shoots out a tiny tracking device that sticks to any surface, and several dozen modified batarangs (called wing-dings) along with de-cel jumplines and gas capsules to reach the tops of buildings.

He has a state-of-the-art motorcycle complete with an onboard computer and built in wifi, as well as a helmet that connects wirelessly to the computer with audio and video feedback and communications capabilities. The helmet also has nightvision and a heads-up display on the inside of the visor.

His costume is made of a version of the Nomex fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and also insulated against electricity. The suit he wears is also fireproof, and his mask is held in place with spirit gum.

Powers/Abilities

Dick has no superhuman powers, and relies solely on technology and his own wits.

Background

When Dick was nine, his parents were killed by Tony Zucco, a gangster who demanded protection money from Haly's Circus, where the Graysons performed. When Mr. Haly refused, Zucco murdered his star performers.

Bruce Wayne had been good friends with John and Mary Grayson when they were teenagers, so he felt obligated to help, and invited Dick to come live at Wayne Manor. It was only a matter of time before the boy discovered Wayne was Batman, and soon he too was learning to fight crime and took on the alias of Robin.

Over his nine years as the Dark Knight's sidekick and apprentice, Dick met many other heroes, and even started a relationship with Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) when he was fifteen. They dated on and off for the next three years, until Dick turned eighteen, became Nightwing, and ventured off on his own.

In the eight months since Dick became Nightwing, he had mostly operated in and around Bludhaven, New Jersey. It is now February 23rd, the tenth anniversary of the Justice League of America, and he is attending a party at the Hall of Justice in DC.

Stupid image refuses to work....

terra.png

Name: Terra
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Birthday: Unknown
Hometown: Unknown
Occupation: Odd Jobs
Ethnicity: Caucasian

Abilities: Terra has control over the Earth and can transform the consistency of earth and rock. She can use this power to cause earthquakes, tap into lava flows and levitate or create shapes out of solid rock.

Physical Appearance: Terra has a tall, yet slightly slim frame. She has long, well-shaped legs and a curvy waist. Blonde hair and blue eyes and her skin is a light peach with a sun-touched golden appeal to it. Terra has a round appealing mouth a slightly oval face shape. She can usually be found wearing the costume as shown above in the picture.

Personality: Terra has a complex personality. She has this stubborn determination and habit of stating what's on her mind, and indeed, once her mind is made up, it is hard to change it. She also tends to be a bit frank due to her lack of people skills, but she doesn't mean anything by it. She gets annoyed easily and becomes rather flustered when she can't do accomplish something. Terra usually tries to hide it, but she actually has an inferiority complex and sometimes tries too hard to fit in. She hides her emotions behind a mask of confidence.

History: Daughter to the King of Markovia, Tara Markov was born with special powers that allowed her control over the Earth. She showed promise at a young age was expected to be a great asset to her father's kingdom. However, when she was seven, she and her brother decided to be mischievous and play around with their powers in a restricted area outside of their kingdom, even though it was forbidden. In the midst of their playful banter, Terra lost control over her powers and inadvertently caused an earthquake. The ground breaking beneath her feet, she struggled to reach for her brother's hand, but she slipped and fell into the chasm below. The Royal Guard came to inspect the disruption and search for Tara, but finding nothing, the Kingdom considered her to be dead and mourned the loss.

Of course, Tara wasn't dead - she had fallen onto a ledge below and was soon found by an elder woman who sensed that there was a flickering life energy somewhere nearby. Using her own powers, she rescued Tara from the ledge and took her home. When Tara came to, it was apparent that she had amnesia - the only thing she remembered was her name, due to the pendant that she wore around her neck. Hearing the girl's name, the woman realized that she was the royal princess and if she was to succeed in her master plan, it wasn't safe for them to stay so close to Markovia anymore and after convincing Tara that she was indeed her own daughter, the elder woman packed up and fled the country with the girl. They relocated to a small town in California.

(In the end, the woman was working for Slade in his search for 'new blood and strong potential', hence the kidnapping of Tara.)

The woman raised Tara as her own for four years and Tara lived happily without the knowledge of her past and real family. But then one night, with Tara at the age of 11, their peace was shattered when some burglars broke into their home. Terra tapped into some of her power out of anger of seeing her 'mother' attacked and easily took care of the burglars, however she lost control again and her powers caused another earthquake. Her 'mother', gravely injured, tells Tara to contact her 'uncle' and ask him for help. She promises that he can help her understand and control her powers, then dies. Consumed with guilt and feeling like a monster, Tara runs away and using the money from the woman's wallet, makes a quick phone call and buys a bus ticket.

Her 'uncle' is no other than Slade planning to finally train and make Tara his apprentice. He is sweet to her, kind and attentive and trains - through all of this she becomes more focused and gains some control over her powers.

Fast forward a few years. Tara is now 19 and in Jersey, living in an old run-down apartment. After leaving Slade's side a few years back, she's been taking odd jobs to pay for the rent and put food on the table. She goes by the name Terra, which is a play off of her real name, which she no longer acknowledges.

Time to time, Slade will contact her with requests for her to go on 'special tasks' for him... the latest requiring her to make a trip to Washington D.C. to find others who, like her, have the potential for great good... or vicious acts of evil.

Shotgun Hawkboy... Hawklad... Hawkson... Kid Hawk.

Yeah, lets go with Kid Hawk.

JSA_hawkman_color_sm.jpg

Real Name: Ch'al Hol
Secret Idenitity: Charlie Hall
Aka: Kid Hawk (Though he plans to go by Golden Eagle one day.)
Age: 18 Human Years. 24 Thanagarian Years.
Species: Human, Thanagarian Hybrid.
Birthday: November 26th.
Birthplace: London, Britain.

Skills, Gear and Equipment

As with all Thanagarians, Ch'al has wings, though due to his human mother, they are not the characteristic thanagarian white or silver, but more a golden brown colour. These allow him the ability to fly. He also (as a result of his alien heritage) has enhanced senses comparable to a hawk's.

His armour is made of Nth Metal, which increases his strength by a factor of 3. The Nth metal also regulates his body temperature, preventing the need for heavy protective clothing while in high altitudes. It also has the property of radiating heat, which can be controlled to warm the wearer in colder climates.

As with his father, Ch'al prefers to use archaic weaponry - particularly maces, nets, spears, and shields - rather than modern or futuristic weapons.

Of course though, walking around with Wings would be a huge faux pas, and so Ch'al, like his father and step-mother, wears an enchanted belt (provided by Zatanna's late father), which keeps the wings hidden from sight.

Background

Ch'al is the son of Katar Hol, Hawkman, and a human woman, who died during childbrith. Katar, regretting his indiscretion due to his marriage to Shayera, sent Ch'al to Thanagar where he was raised by Katar's father, Paran.

At the age of 16 (Earth Years), Paran died, and Ch'al returned to earth, living with his father and step mother, where he began to aid them as the sidekick 'Kid Hawk'.

Struggling with his combined heritage (as well as his thanagarian upbringing), Ch'al constantly comes across as brash and quick to temper, though always speaking his mind, and not always understanding earth traditions, these qualities have somewhat distanced him slightly from the other heroes his age.

It is now February 23rd, the tenth anniversary of the Justice League of America, and he is attending a party at the Hall of Justice in DC, where he is feeling rather uncomfortable.

Looks okay Nite, but I didn't put much thought into Hawkman/Carter Hall when I mentioned him as being in the JSA. Since he's been a superhero since the 1930s, I'm assuming thanagarians live longer than humans?

I did some research on Hawkman and Thanagar, and there seem to be several alternate versions. In one Carter Hall was the reincarnation of the Egyptian Prince Khufu, in another he comes from Thanagar, a planet with people identical to humans that use gravity defying Nth metal to achieve flight, and in the Justice League cartoon, they introduced another version where Thanagarians actually have wings.

So, assuming we go with the Hawkworld idea, we can say Katar Hol came to Earth in the 1930s and created the secret identity of Carter Hall. Maybe his wings were hidden by a device created by Doctor Fate, since Zatara would either be a child or not born yet during this time period.

If your character is Carter Hall's son, then let's go with this: Thanagarians grow to adulthood at the same rate as humans, but their enhanced strength and stamina let them stay young longer, allowing many to live to be well over 200 years old. Carter Hall is obviously already an adult when he becomes Hawkman, but he doesn't father your character until decades later. Maybe we say the Nth metal made thanagrians sterile, and so they had no children for many years. Then maybe when Carter was on vacation in London, he was away from the metal long enough to impregnate Charlie's mother. Sound good?

Also, I wanted to state a few facts about the new DC Jeffverse. Some of these changes are made to make the universe a bit more believable.

There are not 28 known galaxies to the Guardians of the Universe. Let's keep it somewhat localized -- the Green Lanterns work within the Milky Way galaxy, which is where all major DC planets exist -- Rann, Thanagar, Krypton, Oa, Tamaran, etc.

Instead of one Green Lantern for each sector, there is a team, since they only operate in a single galaxy. Planets obviously exist in other galaxies, but it's a lot like Star Wars -- they mostly only have communications with people inside the same galaxy.

There are 992 sectors in the galaxy, and each sector is watched over by a team of Green Lanterns. The captain decides on a team headquarters, and usually a single Lantern is assigned to each planet in the sector that recognizes the Guardians as the supreme authority. For example, Earth exists in Sector 316. When Hal Jordan first became Green Lantern, he was trained by Captain Sinestro, leader of the 316 team at the time. Kilowog was also a member of this team. Through Hal, and eventually the Justice League, the Guardians formed an alliance with Earth, and charged Hal Jordan with that patrol.

I have always hated the name Apokolips for Darkseid's home world, so we'll just call it Apokk (Ay-pahk), and the people are called Apokkian. Darkseid is known as Highlord Uxas.

I PMed like eight other people I used to RP with to ask them about YJ. Please, everyone try to help recruit too, mainly more females so we don't all gangbang Shukaku.

We'll also say the Guardians are kind of like the Jedi Council, whereas the Lanterns are the actual Knights. Oa is considered the capital of the galaxy, kind of like Coruscant. The Guardians are the leaders of the Galactic Alliance, and very member of the Alliance agrees to follow a list of major laws. Other than that, each planet rules itself. Each planet also has the right to send an Ambassador to Oa to sit on the Galactic Alliance Security Council.

Up until Hal Jordan becomes a Green Lantern, Earth is considered a non-member world. Afterwards, the United Nations agrees to become a member of the Alliance, since many of the major laws are ones they already support, such as laws against war crimes, slavery, etc.

On some worlds, a Green Lantern is expected to assist in the creation of a team or teams of heroes, since he/she is only one person with an entire planet to patrol. Plus if the Lantern takes a leave of absence, the team of native heroes can keep things in line. Because of this, Hal Jordan helped create the Justice League of America.

*Faceplants* Yeah that works. Annoying thing is I read the initial post like 3 times before I chose a character. WHY DID IT NOT SINK IN?!?

Name: Rose Wilson
Codename: Ravager
Aliases: Lil Worth, Addie Winter
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 135 pounds
Age: 19

History

Rose Wilson is the daughter of Deathstroke in almost every possible way. She was raised by her father to continue his legacy when he learned that she had inherrited the powers he'd gained through experimentation. She was to graduate to his "sidekick" on a trial mission where she would make her first kill. And when she learned the kill would be a child she balked. Her father didn't, and Rose fled. She has been on the run from her father ever since.

At this time she isn't sure what she is or what side of "the line" (her father's much used name) between hero and villain she belongs on.

Welcome aboard, Wyld. Also, just so everyone knows, I am also going to play Blue Beetle, so that if we end up doing any Reach story arc like the show, we'll have him in the group.

Beast Boy bio

I'd copy and paste, but I went and reread the last bio I wrote for Gar and I think it works (although, where he's going to school may have to be altered).

Setting up a link works nicely, I think.

And, New 52 not withstanding, Gar is not red  and has no discernible relationship, powerwise, with Animal Man, Vixen, Bwana Beast (or whatever his name is now) or any similarly powered individual.

I haven't decided on exactly which version to use for an image, I'd go with some of the last ones pre-52--although I like even earlier hairstyles more. *g*

Sweet, Remec. And you don't have to change where he goes to school. We can still use Happy Harbor as the team HQ. Maybe Gar is just in DC for the weekend to attend the party.

Please let it be known that I will be making all the moves on Beast Boy.

Ahem.

Ahem.
