I know this is on-topic, and I apologize for that, but is it okay to include Clint Eastwood in with "Classic" actors?
I'll pretty much watch anything he's in.
Not a bad director, either.

But it stands to reason under that logic, right? A black man running for higher office, for instance, will come under the scrutiny of "the black race, on average, is inadequately educated to run the country"?
Slippery slope, my friend. Slippery slope.
Spike Lee said: “There were many African-Americans who survived that war and who were upset at Clint for not having one [in the films]. That was his version: the negro soldier did not exist."

Maybe for those who are incapable of evaluating on person at a time on their own merit.
...in which case, the aforementioned idea of the "black race, on average, is inadequately educated to run the country" is totally inconsequential in every scenario of indivdual merit. Rendering it useless.
You can't have it both ways. Sorry.

No logical thought there - as usual.
Basil Rathbone
Errol Flynn
I mentioned Basil to my daughter the other day - that he played a number of villains (the sheriff of Nottingham was one I seem to remember) and Sherlock Holmes too. She had no clue who I was talking about. He was known, but not a big name like Cary Grant.
I love TCM - they have commercial free classic movies playing all the time. Between TCM and HBO I often record 5 to 10 movies onto DVD a week - at least half of them classics.
I don't care for Flynn all that much - some of his roles I liked, but not all. I think he overacted a bit.
Attempting to discredit without examples, or explanation. As usual.
My last comment stumped you.
Rathbone was perfect for the roles he did, as good a villain as he was a hero.
Of course Flynn overacted, that was the whole point. The roles he took pretty much required overacting. That's what made them fun.
I gave you an explanation. Can't read? The explanation I gave was fairly simple, I'm not sure I can simplify it any more, but I will try if it'll help.
A lot of those folks came from silent films where over acting was a requirement.
