"You were meant for more..."

I have received exactly none of the above.

Is my corrupted soul not worth saving?

I don't know whether to feel neglected or relieved. :D

Well, I just heard all about what a sinner I am. Damn.

May as well hang it up.

This guest minister (there is a search for a replacement) was as full of himself with fire and brimstone and we're all gonna go to hell as I've ever heard.

I finally turned and looked at my husband, eyes wide, eyebrows raised. He had the same expression.

Someone should inform the minister that Wrath and Pride are Deadly Sins.

Yep. And arrogance.

And also when praying for a missionary, saying that "France is so anti-God."

He's just a guest minister. Won't be back.

I hope.

Why do I suspect he wouldn't be able to find France on a map?

I don't want my children to hear this shit.

I mean, the only reason I've returned to church is because daughter is going through Confirmation and I don't want to confuse her because her mom has issues now.

My favorite pastor has moved on, of course.

Good morning.

I'm a bit worried. He hasn't answered my email.

Last I heard he was having phone/internet problems and he's supposed to be moving soon also. I'm pretty sure he's ok. Several people have heard from him but that was right after Christmas.

Sarahh have you heard from Slyc lately?

It's been more than a week that I've noticed he's been on. Maybe two.

Let's hope it's just internet issues.

Are you still on that Texas kick. I figured you'd take a nap and forget all about it. ;):D

Morning DP, why are you up so early? I have to work but you should be in lazy mode today.

I will never miss a chance to needle Texicans :D
Had to go to Mass :D
Twice in Church in one weekend ;)

Just remember, I know the people that did that classic bumper sticker from the 70s:

"If God had meant Texans to ski,
He would have made bullshit white!" :D

He, he.

Texans are not arrogant, merely great, and yet humble.

We have a history. We have had, as all states, terrible things happen here done by terrible people. These things are not forgotten.

Nor is our beginning:
**********************************************************
"Commandancy of the Alamo
Bexar, Fby. 24th, 1836

To the People of Texas &
all Americans in the world

Fellow Citizens & Compatriots
I am besieged by a thousand
or more of the Mexicans under
Santa Anna.

I have sustained a
continual bombardment &
cannonade for 24 hours & have
not lost a man. The enemy
has demanded a surrender at
discretion, otherwise the garrison
are to be put to the sword if
the fort is taken.

I have answered
the demand with a cannon
shot, and our flag still waves
proudly from the walls. I
shall never srrender nor retreat.

Then, I call on you in the
name of Liberty, of patriotism, &
of everything dear to the American
character, to come to our aid
with all dispatch. The enemy is
receiving reinforcements daily &
will no doubt increase to three or
four thousand in four or five days.
If this call is neglected, I am deter-
mined to sustain myself as long as
possible & die like a soldier
who never forgets what is due to
his own honor & that of his
country.

Victory or Death
William Barret Travis
Lt. Col. Comdt."
************************************************

This plea for aid was sent out by dispatchers from the Alamo as the battle began. Accounts differ, but during the next 13 days of fighting only the "Immortal 32" rode in to our aid, bringing the total Alamo defenders numbers to 189.

Whether the final enemy numbers were 1600 or 6000 the end result was that a blood red flag was raised by Santa Anna on the 13th day to signal that no quarter would be given, and no quarter was asked for, or given.

God Bless the 32 who came, and those already there, brave souls all.

At the battle of San Jacinto later a battle cry started through the texas lines, "Remember the Alamo!" and Santa Anna got his ass kicked.

So we are a lil proud of our state and got little help when we needed it. We forgot it and texans have fought alongside the men and women of other states in every conflict that america has been in as the United States of America.

Take a drive thought the rural plains and hill country of texas and notice how all on-coming cars wave and smile at you. No, they don't think they know you, they are just saying "howdy" and being texans.

I got kicked out of photbucket for posting a pic of a topless girl (ooops) but I made a new account and will watch that. Here is a lil mp3 with a pic kinda video thingie. Chris Rhea does the song and I made a header for the pic. make it full size and turn your speakers up to get an idea of what texas is today.

Lemme see if this works ..........

One of my favourite books, The Book Of Heroic Failures, about the worst of everything, lists Santa Anna as the worst general in history.

So don't puff yourself up too much, Lisa. ;)

6000 to 189? Yea, we texans should have surrounded them and kicked some ass but it was a bad day, or bad 13 days.

I was just rememberin all the good men who died there, John Wayne, Fess Parker ..... uh ... wait a minute ... I mean Davy Crokett and Jim Bowie and Wyatt Earp .... was he there?

Anyways, they held out for 13 days with 189 men against up to 6000, not bad, even for texans.

Don't worry sweetie, if your state gets invaded texas will still send more than 32 guys to help out. Just look for all the four-wheel drive pick-ups with empty beer cans fallin out coming towards your state.
