How many times does this happen to you? You read through a thread, formulating the 'perfect' response, clever and thoughtful with a soupcon of wit, and someone beats you to the punch!

I am loathe to post my own after reading someone elses very similar response. Am I alone in this?

No, you are not. Happens a lot with me while reading through a thread. But I'll often post anyway. Helps my total. *dry cough* Not that I keep track, or anything.

You are definitely not alone. :)

My worst offenses used to be in long threads. Now I make sure I read an entire thread before I attempt a witty response.

Somebody always manages to beat me to the punch.:D

nahhh, doesn't happen to me very often...I rarely come up with something clever or witty to say! :D

Yep.. happens to me all the time.. I'm usually like a day off.. My wit is slow.. but my typing is fast.. wish it was the other way around ;)

Makes me wish I could hack in and delete the other persons post.. :D (I'm joking.. I know nothing about hacking.. not here anyway.. *L*)

Happens to me all the time. Then I feel like a dork for posting anyway, but sometimes I do because I really wanted to reply.

The pitfalls of posting on a board full of so many intelligent, witty people, I guess. :)

I agree

I wish I had the quick wit as well. But, I have found to post is better than not. I'm not writing for other people as much as I am writing for myself. It helps me see what I really think. Sure, even a fool appears to be wise when he doesn't speak, but revealing yourself through your thoughts helps people to know you. And if I look foolish...well you can't hide some things. So, post away!

When that happens to me

I just post what I want to say in a foreign language.

At least that's a little bit original. :D

Toujours quelqu'un ecrit la meme chose que moi-meme.

Isn't that special?

soupcon? wow, that's not a word you hear everyday!

I usually defer to the other person's superior wit and typing ability and simply say ditto

Yeh, it happens to me all the time.

Th other day i had this long, carefully crafted, exquisitely correct post all set to go - and checked before i posted it only to find Dill (damn his quick intelligence!) had just posted everything i was gonna say. Nothing to do in that case but sigh and hit the DELETE key.

Soimetimes i just post anyway after apphending a blurb about how PreviousPoster and i are really the same person... or something not *quite* as lame, anyway. Occasionally i just do the ditto thing.

You should post Rose. You're clever and funny and your posts are always exceedingly well-crafted. You're a pleasure to read.

cym and I are really the same person...

Yes, it happens to me, too. I'll have something already typed up and then....I see it right there in front of me....big as life....my reply. Only thing is....I wasn't the one who wrote it. LOL!

That's when I usually say a few choice words and hit the delete button.

Most times, I'll go ahead and post anyway because if it was important enough for me to reply, then I do regardless of my post already being a duplicate.
