You know why women love romance books so much?

Because they can huddle under the protective canopy of a fantasy world in which men are either punching bags, meat shields, walking wallets, or easily disposed of.

Men are never actual people in romance books any more than women are people in porn. The difference is at least in porn the woman doesn't die for the guy's pleasure.
