YOU’LL SIT IN THE DARK, BE COLD, AND EAT THE BUGS:

YOU’LL SIT IN THE DARK, BE COLD, AND EAT THE BUGS: Millions Of Brits Told Not To Heat Homes At Night As Part Of ‘Net Zero’ Climate Goals. “Chris Stark, head of the CCC, wants ordinary citizens to turn off their electric heaters (heat pumps) at night as part of a wider drive to deliver “emissions savings,” which includes a shift away from gas boilers – which Chris, a hypocrite, still has.”
So you didn't read the article. Either that or you don't understand the article....which is it?

It's very common to switch the heating off overnight in the UK. The country doesn't suffer extremes of temperature, so a few degrees cooler makes little difference when people are in bed. This saves money, which means people are motivated to do it.

Most urban and suburban homes are heated by natural gas which is supplied through a nationwide network. No one is advocating that this should be replaced, and it would be impractical to install heat pumps in these homes. Many rural homes are heated by oil, and these are the target of a government proposal to ban the sale of oil boilers from 2026. This makes sense in new homes, but not existing ones, as homeowners would be faced with a huge bill if their existing boiler broke down. The installation of gas boilers will also banned in homes built from 2025.

so the story isnt true?
The article is misleading. Your line about eating bugs in the dark is asinine.

Why eating insects could help the fight against climate change and save the environment

Insects offer a promising alternative to a low-ecological-footprint diet: they are genetically very distinct from humans, so viruses are unlikely to make the jump; they produce only small amounts of greenhouse gas, compared to livestock (to yield just 1kg of protein, a single cow produces 2,850g of greenhouse gas, ...Jun 21, 2023

so the story isnt true?
Probably not. When a story only appears in the insane right wing US press but not in the right wing press of the country concerned (where there are actually press standards), it's made up.

British people are not going to be eating bugs in the dark and Chris Stark of the CCC has no authority to do anything beyond making suggestions for others to laugh at. Plus, the website of the CCC https://www.theccc.org.uk/ doesn't appear to mention it.
