Balancing out our west coast rain and storm.....
A winter storm that brought a rare white Christmas to parts of the South was barreling up the East Coast early Sunday, with forecasters predicting 6 to 10 inches of snow for Washington and blizzard conditions for New York City and New England. Airlines canceled hundreds of Sunday flights in the Northeast corridor, with more likely to come as the storm intensifies.

Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina declared states of emergency early Sunday or Saturday night. As North Carolina road crews tried to clear snowy and icy highways, Mid-Atlantic officials spent Christmas Day preparing for up to a foot of snow, plunging temperatures and high winds.

"Our concern is tomorrow it's going to get significantly colder," Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell told The Weather Channel on Saturday evening. "Winds with gusts up to 45 miles per hour will cause blowing snow and that's going to cause the worst of it ... and we're urging extreme caution in travel. Try to get home early and if you don't have to travel don't go."

Continental Airlines canceled 250 Sunday departures from Newark Liberty International Airport outside New York City. United Airlines announced late Saturday that it had canceled dozens of Sunday departures from Newark, Philadelphia, New York's LaGuardia and JFK, Boston and other airports. AirTran also canceled flights, as did Southwest Airlines, mostly in or out of Washington Dulles, Baltimore and Newark.

It hit freezing (31) here on the southern Border this morning. The water pump control line froze.

Three minutes with a hair dryer fixed it thought. :D

We're just west enough to get a dusting but not much more right now. It's pretty darn cold out there though.

You Guys stay safe in the snow. Ours here in the mid west seems to be melting some.

Hey, it's their turn, 3. We've been blasted plenty so let the rest of the country have a crack at it.

We have got our airports working again but we can't send aircraft to the Eastern States because theirs are snowed in. :(

Then send them some place warm like 3's house. :D

She would just love the company.

Snowing in KY but nothing major so far. They're saying almost 60 by the weekend, so... If that's the case I will be a very grateful flutterbug, as long as the sun comes out. This SADS shit is killing me.

About 2 inches outide of Philly so far, but South Jersey is going to get hit the worst in this area...sorry 'bout that, TGP...hope you have milk, bread and eggs!!!

The storm just brushed past us in central Virginia. It coated the bushes and trees and the ground without staying on the streets. The best possible white Christmas. Just an hour away, Richmond is being buried in it.

Oh, the irony! Those in the UK wanting to visit New York couldn't because they were closed down due to snow, now they can't because New York is closed down due to snow! It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!

Indeed! I've got cookies and hot chocolate (spiked hot chocolate That's for the men. So they won't quite know what happened to them....)

Heard the Devils game only got 2500 to 3000 people in their seats with the arena emptying further when the fans heard that bus service was going to go down to the storm. A quiet game, I hear.

Stay safe and warm and prepared!!!!!!

We're right on the cusp of the storm. Family is snowed in. Half the family made it safely, the rest are stuck under a foot or two of snow. We probably have about 6 or so inches, right now. Not expecting to get a huge amount.

We have just enough to make a sexy snow man, snow angels, sledding and play-time! ;) No one is due back home or to work until Wed, so we don't mind being snowed in. Wood burning fire place and gas fire places have us covered if power goes out. Too bad no one yummy to cuddle with! *pout* Ah well, a girl can dream and I do! :cattail:

We got about two feet of snow last night. Took my brother, father and I two hours to dig out. My car was the most difficult thing, it was kinda stuck even though all of the snow around it was dug out (the snow underneath it was the problem).

The Latest!

A powerful East Coast blizzard marooned thousands of would-be air, rail and road travelers Monday, shutting down major airports and rail lines for a second day, stranding buses on buried highways, and forcing New York City subway riders to spend a cold night in unheated trains.

Officials urged anyone who did not have to drive to stay off roads in the region, where high winds pushed snow into deep drifts across streets, railroads and runways. More than two feet of snow had fallen in some areas by Monday morning.

The New York area, where cars abandoned in the middle of the city's snow-clogged avenues stymied cleanup, took the brunt of a storm that meandered across the country over the Christmas weekend before plowing up the East Coast. States of emergency were declared in at least six states from the Carolinas on north. Jets got snowed in on the tarmac or never left the gate.

Okay, East Coast folk! Check in please! Let us know you're safe and sound and reading Erotica to stay warm!

Holy shit, I think I know that street in the photo!

I was actually asked into work today on a day I scheduled prior to take off...and I came in mostly because all the stores in my neighborhood are shuttered and the streets and avenues are gridlocked with snowdrifts and I couldn't do what I wanted to do with my day today (laundry, dry cleaning, barbershop, etc.,) so might's well make overtime...

...although before I was asked to come in, I was reading Erotica to stay warm and keep certain body parts in motion with hot blood pumping and flowing! And I miss being in bed half-naked and reading smut! :D

Checking in from NC. 5-6 inches here, and it's beginning to melt. Glad to see it go!

Sunday Night Football Eagles vs Vikings was cancelled! Of all teams too, the Vikings!

Only a third of an inch on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge in Virginia. But I did read, write, and edit erotica today (as usual).
