There was a little article in the paper this morning about a sudden run on yellow women's panties around here. Apparently, wearing yellow knickers for New Years is supposed to bring you good luck in the following year.

Anyone ever hear of this?

I have heard of it. Wearing yellow today myself, but I thought it was a purely New york thing. I had never heard of it before moving up there.

LOL,

I thought it was just a local thing, the old school's colors were yellow (gold) and black.

I would think that black would bring a girl better luck than yellow. And sheer.

Tight, too.

Yellow knickers!? Hmmm, sexy, yeah!

Bugger, I don't own a pair. Ah, but I do have white ones and yellow felt tip pens. :D

(I hope it doesn't look like I wet myself... )

In Kent (UK) it has been a tradition for generations that a lady wearing a red hat is signalling that she is not wearing knickers.

It is a shame that so few ladies now wear hats, and so few of those that do wear red ones.

I assume that outside Kent a red hat has no significance whatever.

Nope, it has significance in Dorset, too! When I was younger, I remember my Nan yelling out, "Red hat, no knickers!" Then my Mum falling about laughing, as we all walked down the road together. The poor woman in the red hat looked most embarrassed. :D

That's hilarious. You Brits crack me up! :D

Some thongs are embarrassingly visible at the waistline.

Personally I find the exposure of a string around the waist and a tiny strip of material disappearing into a bum cleavage as very unattractive.

However, do I assume that a visible red thong indicates that the lady is not wearing a hat?

I know one man who likes that. I bent over, on Christmas Day, to get the turkey out of the oven. I stood up and, after placing the basting tin containing the turkey on top of the cooker, I turned around. He had a silly grin on his face and his camera in his hand. "That's another one for the collection," he said, as he reached behind me, reached down the back of my jeans and gave my thong a twang, for good measure.  :D

Never heard of that one. I don't own any yellow underwear, and I'm not buying it because of this. :)

well I'll buy you some then, just send measurement details and arty naked pictures of yourself.

Nope, never heard of it.
I'm not really fond of the color yellow...
Hmm. I wonder if Leopard print will suffice? :D;)

underware
so restricting... why bother?
just paint your bits yellow and call it a night...

sweetie, are you drinking already?
if so, mind if i join ya?

There must be dozens of regional variations on these superstitions. In the South, we learned a simple, two-line rhyme that began with, "Latex for luck." I can't remember the rest but I don't think a color was specified.

Damn! i read the title to the thread and thought one of my posts might have actually been an inspiration to somebody. Silly me.

And yes, i'm wearing yellow undies.

Nope never heard of yellow underwear for luck - I know they wear red underwear in Spain for good luck - much more classy!!

I'd go buy myself a pair, but unfortunately, everything's closed up early. Looks like another unlucky year for me... LOL!
