Why don't we explain to those of us who aren't hockey fans who Mario Lemiuex is and what he has gone through to get back into hockey....And yes next to Gretzky he is one of the greatest players of all-time.

For the unitiated is one of the greatest lights in hockey in the past twenty years.

A supremely gifted offensive talent and after a little mentorship from Gretzky in a Canada Cup series, a great leader and spokesperson for the game.

He has had many struggles to overcome in hockey and in life. He has beaten Hodgkins disease a serious back injury and mastered english, a language he barely spoke when he landed in Pittsburgh as an 18 year old phenom.

When the Penguins were on the verge of financial ruin he assumed ownership ad managerial control of the team and is leading it back to profitability.

Now he has returned to the game that he loves so that his young children can see him play. He is one of the true rarities in professioal sport.... a good guy.
