My mother is still swimming through the paperwork needed to get back disability pay, so I stand and applaud that you got yours.

Don'tcha just love forms and red tape?Master Gil and I have just put in an application for me to receive a carer's allowance as well as the carer's pension, which if I get it will mean an extra $50 a week. He had to go have another health assessment done - gee I wonder why when He has things like diabetes and renal failure which are not ever going to get better. They should just stamp a big red P on His file for Permanent!
It will take between 2 and 4 weeks for the application to be assessed.....![]()

Just a question for 'ya, though: I understand that it takes a couple of tries to finally get approved for Social Security Disability benefits. Did you have to go through the entire process, then get rejected the first time...or did you win on the first try? A friend of mine has applied for benefits, but she said it might take a couple of years. Thanks!

*smooch*Congrats Gracie, I know what you mean we are very lucky here to not have that additional worry having the NHS which kind of works if you don't mind the waiting lists.graceanne said:Thank you, everyone. Yes, the medicare is going to be very helpful, it's the main reason I applied for social secuirty. I mean, don't get me wrong, a little extra money is nice, but it's the health insurance I need.
