I tried this on the general board but no response, so I am bringing to the playground where I usually hang out anyway

Yahoo UK Profiles
I was happily checking out various profiles who I chat with on yahoo and they seem to be gone, like poof!

I did a google on it and found this:

"Adult Profiles

Compiled based on information from BigBlueBall/TechGuy forums
To view an adult profile you must be,
(1) An Adult - Over 18
(2) Not in the UK
The Yahoo! UK & Ireland stopped access to User rooms, Adult rooms and Adult profiles to its UK accounts. If you have a UK Yahoo! account, adult profiles will not work. If you have a USA Messenger with a UK Yahoo! account you will be able to access User rooms and adult rooms.
Possible Fix
Go to chat.yahoo.com, sign in, and select "Account Info" in the upper right.
Look for "Member Information" and click the "Edit" button to the right of it.
Now under "General Preferences" you will see the current language, click it, then update your language to another English version, NOT uk or us."

So I am wondering, do the accounts still work? Is it just the profiles that are gone, or are adult accounts gone? and what about yahoo im with those who have yahoo Uk adult accounts?

Would someone who has one, let me know if they still work?

Latest: Chat withdrawal

Yahoo! are withdrawing chat services from Europe, including Yahoo! UK & Ireland. In a deal with Lycos, users will be directed to Lycos where they will require a new nickname to chat, and lose contact with old peers.

First; i have an update for you. Not just UK and Ireland Yahoo have stopped User Rooms. The entire worldwide Yahoo service has eradicated User Rooms from their servers. There was this big thing about child porn and all kind of other things that breached the Yahoo User Room agreement. I liked those userrooms, found many a good friend and benifits in them so i was sad to see them go also. But i use an american account, plus i AM american, so i think its safe to say the user rooms are done for on yahoo. As far as adult profiles go, i have no idea. All my contacts profiles work for me, but i dont know if their UK or not.

can't say that I'll miss user rooms considering 99% of them had nothing but ad-bots in them and/or kids trying to hack into something...they weren't useful, but Yahoo took the lead of MSN....while the concept is good to have user rooms where you can meet people, those who create viruses/spam, etc thrive off of places like that, in addition to popup ads. Most likely alot of the user accts that have disappeared have probably been deleted by Yahoo due to them not being active in quite some time....I'd say probably after 6 mo, since that's the norm. I seem to remember seeing something about MSN and Yahoo deleting accts that haven't been active, considering they just take up server space and degrade the performance for other active users.

No, someone I chatted with on Nov.29, no longer has a profile. Their account was in the UK adult section.

Noor, I just checked one contact who I know has an adult profile and had no trouble. (Mine is an American id.) Sorry can't help you more.
