Yahoo Groups?

I'm considering starting a new Yahoo Group but I want it to be active and popular and am having a problem coming up with a good theme / idea.

Anyone got any ideas?

You could do a Yahoo group about, "good themes for active and popular Yahoo groups", then everytime anyone asked about "good themes" or "active" or "popular" "Yahoo Groups" you would have to be top of the list.

i'm sure this doesn't address your question NB but i really believe that it's more important to start a group about something for which you have a passion. a group can be hugely popular but if you don't give a shit about the subject matter what good is it?

many years ago i did a program with coleman mccarthy and he told a story about his son growing up. he did miserably in school and played baseball relentlessly. the neighbors used to give coleman a bunch of shit about how useless his kid was shaping up to be. when it came time for college, he eeked in to a couple of schools, played more baseball, changed colleges a few times, did poorly in classes, etc. when he finally got out (again, after much ridicule from all sectors for being a poor student) he started a baseball camp and is a very wealthy man today.

anyway, the point is that you should involve yourself in what you're passionate about and the success will follow.

btw, i may have some of the details of that story wrong but the sentiment is as i presented it.

well... pick one or two and go from there. maybe there are several you could piece together under one general heading? maybe you could make a list of everything you're considering... see if a number of them could logically fit into one category and do that.

naturally, if all else fails, you could do what i do... put your nuts in a vice and turn the crank while you read down the list... when you can't take it anymore, whatever topic you're on is the winner.

Lit is a great place but I'm not sure how comfortable I am revealing that much about myself.

ok... just a thought.

you could always create an alt and post the list... head it "hey... NB... ideas for your group" so it doesn't seem like you posted it using an alt.

very nice list... the first thing that jumps out for ME is that the majority of it is outdoorsy stuff. if it were me, i'd start there with some sort of outdoorsman group.
