Wuhan Flu update.

Gee, I wonder if this denialism could also be associated with the reporting on the effectiveness of Covid prevention and where it didn't come from?

What did I deny? Or did you just assume I was saying something else?

Anyone that doesn't use a VPN these days is a moron.

I love that he thought that was a dig at me. You would think one would be more careful with one's shit after exposing his life on the Lit. Fucking idiot.

On the "Was the virus engineered?" question, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but the fact that scientists in a Wuhan lab apparently got sick with a virus that was ... circulating in the city of Wuhan does not seem like rock-solid evidence to me.

The question should indeed be looked into, but the safer bet is that the disease arose much the same way that new diseases have arisen throughout history.

Sure, that is the "safe bet" if you believe in coincidence and ignore Occam's razor.

Do you always bet on the most complicated, least likely explanation?

"Was it purposely released? Was it an engineered virus?" are both immaterial to wearing a mask, washing your hands regularly for 20+ seconds to a good lather, keeping your distance, non-essential workers staying home and getting immunized to prevent the spread of the virus.

Washing your hands is something you should have been doing to avoid fecal contamination and rinoviruses. It has zero effect on the spread of a disease that the CDC has definitively stated is not transmitted by contact. You have to inhale it.

If masks work, why "keep your distance?" Any particle small enough to get through the mask is airborne and can linger in a room for a great length of time and travel long distances, especially through HVAC systems.

There is no such thing in an economy as a "non-essential" worker. Stating home has zero effect on disease transmission unless every member of your household also idiotically quarantines while healthy to hide from a disease with a very low risk of death. It is now far lower risk than influenza because the vaccines are far more effective than any given influenza strain vaccine.

You say a lot of dumb shit. Just an FYI since you're obviously not aware of it.

My understanding of the consensus of the scientific evidence is that the virus was NOT engineered but occurred naturally and was one of those being studied in Wuhan.

But how it spread and did it escape from the laboratory?

That is more difficult. the Chinese covered it up and suppressed people who raised the alarm early on. Whether that is just the Chinese government acting with normal paranoia, or whether it is more sinister? We're unlikely to ever know.

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter too. Especially your last sentence.

This is the type of post that I wish more people would make. Intelligent, rational, well thought out. Thank you for your insights; see, THIS MAKES SENSE.

Well, it's been a little over a year since the Wuhan Flu turned the world upside down. What have we learned?

In the lock down vs. no lock down battle there appears to be no clear winner. As predicted the virus found a way to defeat most measures put in place. The only real difference between the two approaches was the severe economic damage suffered by those governmental entities that went the hard lock down route.

Yes folks, it did come from that lab in Wuhan. Only the hardest core shill for the CCP is trying to pretend otherwise now. Once again I 'called the ball' on that one. The only questions left to be answered are;

1. Was it purposely released?

2. Was it an engineered virus?

On the first question I'll posit "No". I think it was a result of typical Chinese sloppy safeguards.

The answer to the second is way above my pay grade but serious researchers are now beginning to ask that same question. The problem here is that the CCP has had plenty of time to cover it's tracks. An investigation into this question should have been started almost immediately.

We were assured by the Media and respected researchers that the virus did NOT originate in that lab and that there was "no way" that this was an engineered virus. Media and researchers that all turned out to be lying sons a bitches. I hold the media especially at fault in that instead of digging for the truth they were actively complicit in burying the truth. Journalism in any real sense of the word is dead. Blindly believe the media, any media, at your own peril.

To date this virus has not been found in animals. So the wet market narrative is bullshit.

Note the Biden administration just shut down the State Department investigation into the sources after a meeting in which the investigation results were revealed. We know Biden is compromised by the CCP so we also know why the investigation was halted and the findings withheld from the public. Trouble for Joe is, it will be leaked.

That's not true at all. It's been found in housepets, for christ's sake. And minks have been shown to both catch it and transmit it back to humans.

And your second paragraph is wrong too. Biden just called for expanding the investigation by our intelligence agencies, right after he got the report you're referring to.

Keep telling people they need to keep up with the news. :D:rolleyes:

A small number of pets (cats and dogs) have been confirmed to be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, mostly after close contact with a person with COVID-19. Some pets did not show any signs of illness, but those pets that did get sick all had mild disease that could be taken care of at home.Apr 2, 2021

What you need to know

If your pet tests positive for the virus that causes COVID-19, isolate the pet from everyone else, including other pets.
Do not wipe or bathe your pet with chemical disinfectants, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or other products, such as hand sanitizer, counter-cleaning wipes, or other industrial or surface cleaners.
Only a small number of pets worldwide have been infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, mostly after close contact with a person with COVID-19. Some pets did not show any signs of illness, but of those pets that did get sick, most had mild disease that could be taken care of at home.
If you think your pet is infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, call your veterinarian first to discuss what you should do.

While coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) mostly spreads from person to person, it can also spread from people to animals.

COVID-19 is a type of coronavirus. Coronaviruses are a family of viruses. Some cause cold-like illnesses in people, and others cause illness in animals, such as bats. In addition, some coronaviruses infect only animals. While the specific source of origin isn't known, the virus that causes COVID-19 is believed to have started in an animal, spread to humans and then spread between people.

Coronavirus in dogs and cats
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a few pets — including cats and dogs — also have been infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. This happened mostly after the animals were in close contact with people infected with the COVID-19 virus.

Based on the limited available information, the risk of animals spreading the COVID-19 virus to people is considered low. Animals don't appear to play a significant role in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. There is no evidence that viruses can spread to people or other animals from a pet's skin, fur or hair.

However, keep in mind that young children, people with weakened immune systems, and people age 65 and older are more likely to get sick from some other germs that animals can carry.

The article you've quoted has been retracted by the publication. The following reasons were given for the retraction by the editorial board:

1. A broader review of existing scientific evidence clearly shows that approved masks with correct certification, and worn in compliance with guidelines, are an effective prevention of COVID-19 transmission.

2. The manuscript misquotes and selectively cites published papers. References #16, 17, 25 and 26 are all misquoted.

3. Table 1. Physiological and Psychological Effects of Wearing Facemask and Their Potential Health Consequences, generated by the author. All data in the table is unverified, and there are several speculative statements.

4. The author submitted that he is currently affiliated to Stanford University, and VA Palo Alto Health Care System. However, both institutions have confirmed that Dr Vainshelboim ended his connection with them in 2016.

New findings reported Tuesday in a University of Louisville study challenge what has been the prevailing belief that mask mandates are necessary to slow the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus. The study notes that "80% of US states mandated masks during the COVID-19 pandemic" and while "mandates induced greater mask compliance, [they] did not predict lower growth rates when community spread was low (minima) or high (maxima)." Among other things, the study—conducted using data from the CDC covering multiple seasons—reports that "mask mandates and use are not associated with lower SARS-CoV-2 spread among US states."

Perhaps a further review of emerging articles in the US describing the NIH grants of millions of dollars to the Wuhan lab for “gain of function” research. Self explanatory as the lab was attempting to upgrade the bat virus to be contagious to humans for military applications.

And the real kicker is Fauci was the director of the NIH when the money was dispersed. Also illegally due to not having budget approval for the expenditures, money was diverted from other programs under the guise of grants to a US university.

It is all out there if a person wants to find the emerging truth.

Thanks. I'll go find the article and read it. Interesting that it says that it did not predict lower growth rates when community spread was low (minima) or high (maxima). Those are the two extremes, it seems (depends how they're defined in the study). What about community spread when we're somewhere in the middle of those two? Plus, all these studies now are retrospective studies which lessens their reliability. They're relying on old data from the CDC which is good data but it doesn't account for variables nearly as well as prospective studies. Still, they're valuable. That's why I need to read it. Greatly appreciate the tip.

Perhaps we will know more when the report to President Biden is completed?

Okay, OldJ, I couldn't find the study right away but I found references to it in a variety of conservative opinion pieces. One had a link but it only linked to the summary, not the study itself. It may not be available yet if it was released just a couple of days ago. I'll keep looking.

I did note, however, that this was a study of mask mandates, not mask wearing. That's a big difference. That's where the variables come in. It's very possible mask mandates failed because people simply didn't wear masks. We had mandates in my state but in rural towns it was essentially totally ignored. And we had super-spreader events all summer that took the virus back to home states. But a failure of mask mandates doesn't discount the value of mask wearing.

Not done looking at this, though. Again, thanks.

Fauci has never been the director of the NIH.

Americans are such Karens.

Pandemic's nearly over; now the shblaming of others can really begin.
