And now we have millionaire privileged black celebrities whining the Oscars are racist. Talk about first world asshole problems and making up things to complain about.

This picture was of a little girl who truly dealt with racism maybe Jada Pinkett should be shown this.

Do I think Will Smith deserved an Oscar for Concussion, I watched it and no he didn't.

However do I feel that there should be more diversity in academy award winning films, yes. Further from this there needs to be more minority diversity from indigenous people to black, Hispanics to women in power roles. The difference being women thank god, have there own category, this is a good thing because people like Aaron Sorkin believe women are not as good as the male actors.

Before Bill Cosbey was broadly known as the villain he is today, his tv show pushed young people in the black community to aspire to a higher plateau to have more pride in them selves and achieve more.

The same thing for women, positive role models for women on film have a direct impact. There are countless examples of young women shapeing there characters on what they see presented by there role model on screen.

Actors are part of a wider community that shape the public psyche. The selection of onscreen minority role models needs to be widened, and the academy needs to be reformed.

So, now the Academy shouldn't vote for the best, but only the difference in skin color? I thought the Academy Awards was for the best in film making, not what color your skin is.

I think the problem is deeper than the Academy.

A few years ago women were under represented in strong acting roles. Now it seems that anyone other than white actors struggles to find appropriate screenplays, and more importantly finance for movies.

At least we have gone beyond white people playing black roles with blackface make up.

Last night I was watching a DVD of the Powell and Pressburger movie A Canterbury Tale. The main character was played by Sheila Sim. For that era she comes across as a very strong person. As the American sergeant says to her "You need about as much help as a Flying Fortress".

But where are the modern roles that could win Oscars for people other than whites?

But where are the modern roles that could win Oscars for people other than whites?

That is, after all, the key question. There are two ways you could deal with this: 1) make movies with roles that could win Oscars for people other than whites, or 2) continue making movies as they are and force selections of people other than whites.

I know which of the options I think is more likely to happen.

Was it just two years ago that 12 Years a Slave was nominated for nine Oscars? It was. I don't remember anyone of any color complaining about that? It did only win 3 of those nominations but still, no one complained or threatened to boycott.
