Writing While Horny?

Hi, Gang. I'm a fairly new author-type here, but I have noticed an interesting phenomenon, and wondered if others have had a similar experience. Basically, when I'm horny, I find that it is MUCH easier to write about sex. When I am sexually satisfied, on the other hand, it is much harder to do. I might have guessed it would be the other way around, but there you have it.

I'm in a long-term relationship, but my SO is in a far distant city. After our periodic visits, I am pretty much sexually spent, and writing about erotic topics becomes very difficult. But when we haven't been together for awhile, and I'm getting randy as a stoat, the words just flow out of me like, well, like love juices out of a sex organ!

Anyone else experience this dichotomy? Or maybe the exact opposite? Or perhaps no correlation at all?

Just curious. Thanks!......Carney

I've written sex scenes both ways, and horniness definitely helps.

In my case, writing a scene while "cold" can be as difficult as having a tooth pulled.

I can write without neccessarily being horny to start, but I will be horny by the time I finish. I can't write after having sex, I'm just too sated and I can't get the words to flow. I have some mind blowing sex after writing a sex scene, though.

I find it easy to write while horny too. Then the writing makes me hornier and I have to stop in the middle and do what a lot of readers here do. :D Afterwards I have to remind myself to go back and make sure my characters get theirs now that I've gotten mine.

I'm trying to write an analytical essay, and I am totally horny, yo'. It's keeping my brain farting vigorously. I have a page and a half left from my goal for the night, and...I cannot bring myself to find something to take up the space.

The fucking piece of shit essay won't even effect my grade if it's bad, but I'm such a perfectionist. And my back hurts. And my ankles hurt from work. And my sides hurt, amazingly. And I'm sore all over, horny, and want to go to bed for about four good hours before I have to rise again, go turn it in, go to a voice lesson, and come home for teh sleepies.

I write more and quicker when i'm horny but not neccassarily better.....

I edit better when i'm not horny but it soon makes me that way.....

That's why I'm so far behind on my editing.... well, that's my story and i'm sticking to it.... ;)

These two pretty much summarize my thinking too.

Getting laid the night before, negatively affects my being able to write the next day. Now I know what coach meant before the big game.

For my best writing I have to keep myself on the edge between turned on and all out horny. If I get too excited I'm going to finish myself off and then I won't be able to write anymore. However, if I'm not turned on at all I can't get myself to focus on what I'm doing.

I also feel the same way about dream control. I have to be half awake and half asleep, but that's a different topic ;)

"Hyper Erection Mode!" sorry, the thread reminded me of a funny Hentai where the main character can write Hentai (the books not movies) at ten time normal speed provided he has an erection so his wife/assistant is responsible for keeping him in a constant state of hornyness...Incidentally the name of the movie is "Darling"...

Anyway, back on topic...I can write pretty much regardless of my state of mind, except when I'm upset with my wife...No real speed difference unless I have a very clear image of what's going on...
Though I must say writing erotic scenes makes me horny in a way that even reading or watching them can't do...

If you are a good erotic writer then if you aren't horny when you start you darn well should be when you finish.

This comment is nothing about you or your writing - but great writers write a narrative and sex is a part of it ... mediocre ones write about sex and the narrative is AROUND it.

Welcome to the word jungle, Carney.

When I'm horny, I'm too distracted to write anything.

Only (and only in my opinion) if you are interested than making yourself horny rather than your readers. Writing to arouse feelings in others requires distance as well as inspiration. I need to be able to step back and say, "Damn, that's hot, and even better, I know why that's hot and what I need to say to make other people horny with it." I mean, can you edit while horny? I certainly can't.

If I'm horny, I'd rather indulge the urge than write about it.

How very odd. I'm never horny when I'm writing. I find the two to be mutually distracting.

writing while horny isn't good for me. i tend to rush on, lose detail, and make error after error.

Actually I find myself editing better at that point...for one thing the faults tend to be more jarring to me...Awkward wording suddenly jumps off the page when I get really into the piece...
