I have 19 plot outlines and write every day on various web sites but can't seem to get my own novel(s) done. What I've realized about myself that while creative, I work best with another person to bounce ideas off of.

What I need is a writing partner, someone who would be:
Task motivated
Excited by prospect for working with someone on a project
A good communicator as we will be working via email, phone and in person (if possible) to produce a salable work
Someone who is ethical, have good self-esteem, and stick-to-it-ness.

Profits, if any, would be 50/50 and the billing could be either alphabetical or under a pen name chosen by us both. A commitment of a least a year would be preferred, project rights to incomplete work to remain with me if my plot, and you if your plot.

Current outlines include: Chick Lit, Horror, Sci-Fi and straight fiction with character driven plots with usually a female or family as the center focus.

I am currently aware of a new label looking for Chick Lit and we can submit sample chapters to them after we reach an accord.

I hope to hear from you soon,
Sincerely,
PS

You're definitely in the right place to look for a writing partner. Unfortunately, I don't possess any of the attributes you seek:

"Task motivated
Excited by prospect for working with someone on a project
A good communicator as we will be working via email, phone and in person (if possible) to produce a salable work
Someone who is ethical, have good self-esteem, and stick-to-it-ness."

Hell, I don't even speak English, but I do type it fluently. Having said that, though, you'll find many a great writer in Lit and, maybe, one that fits your criteria for a partner. :D

You know, that's a good idea. I worked with a partner once, but she dropped the ball and totally neglected our work. It's smart of you to set those criteria.

I would certainly volunteer, but I'm on the wrong coast. After working with a partner, I do think it's best to be able to meet and discuss/brainstorm in person regularly.

Good Luck to you! And, if anyone is in or around PA and would like a writing partner to create a novel, keep me in mind!

-Sheila

One of the reason I chose self esteem is because I don't want to be someones theapist, I want to be their writing partner.

Lady, I'm sad that you have the same goals and are on the wrong coast! :(

Tang, thank you for you honest remarks! If nothing else I value that! :rose:

I must say, the idea is intriguing - rather like having an exercise partner.

I would certainly be willing to talk to other writers who were interested in collaborating, though I'd probably want to do something small with them, possibly a roleplay or SRP, to see how compatible we were before committing to anything too extensive.

I can understand that, come on over to the RP where I've built up about 4000 of my 6000 posts, lol.

Brilliant idea! Unfortunately I don't fit your criteria either. I'm very good at procrastination. I currently have 4 pieces being written, 3 pieces in editing/ rewrite stages, and several ideas jotted down.

I'm working on my first collaboration now - just a short story - but it's with my best friend. :)

I've never considered writing with someone before, simply because writing styles vary so greatly. I can't imagine writing with someone I didn't know, and didn't know very well. In fact, this collaboration started as simply bouncing ideas off each other. I liked her ideas so much, and vice versa, that we decided to just write it together.

I think, for me at least, the writing relationship would have to evolve after another relationship is already well-established.

More power to you, though, if you can go about it another way. :)

I have worked with a partner. I think the success all depends on how the two people interact with one another. It was a fun experience and the story is a good one (ok, maybe I am biased a bit ;) ) TE999 was a gr8 guy to work with and we both seemed to be able to know exactly what came next and how it should happen, and actually agree on it. The experience left us with a very good friendship and a damned good story.

Check out Death Becomes Them, it's under erotic horror. This story was written entirely through e-mail and the brainstorming came from instant messaging.

Yes, I agree that finding someone to write with thru random ad can be difficult for just the very reasons stated...

But you know why Alladdin got his wish? Not because he had a lamp, but because he asked for what he wanted.

So, thank you for your insights and good wishes! Onward! :)

Not even...

A good communicator as we will be working via email, phone and in person (if possible) to produce a salable work

And not even the common courtesy of answering a pm? Yeah, boy, I'm really ready to work with someone like that...good luck...you'll need it...

Since you put confirm on your PM you should realize that I didn't get it til just now. I work from 1pm to 1130pm and don't usually get on the comp at that time. According to the time stamp on your PM you sent it at 430pm.

However, your open response here shows me that your touchy, and that's not what I need in a writing partner. But thank you for your intrest.

me, too...

Had a new western approach to succubus/incubus clash with many different angles...but since I'm so "touchy", I guess you wouldn't want to deal with anyone who had ideas or thoughts that differed with yours...So, thanks for opening up a new avenue of thought for me...too bad...could have been entertaining to say the least, dealing with a succubus...

I'm happy that you have some new ideas sparking there from the convo, but I feel that someone who is upset over a few hours delay in a response which I didn't get might not be someone I could work with for a year on a novel, which is what I am looking for.

I actually hope to work with someone who can help me get other ideas and viewpoints, just like I helped you get a new idea for a story.

Hey dude, stay calm. The internet is unrealiable and unless you're on a real time chat programme people may not always get messages as soon as you send them.

I would have to agree, though, I don;t think it would be a good idea for you two to work together... not sure the prettiness of the fireworks would be worth the pain of the burns...
