only_more_so said:I know they take a while. I'd just like to be sure I didn't screw something up in the submission for a chain story, since it isn't as straight-forward as a normal story.

only_more_so said:Well, my story got rejected with the following message:
Generally, Chain Stories must be grouped together in some way - hence the word "chain". Even if none of the stories are interrelated, your group should come up with a naming convention to keep them all together in the story list (i.e. "CHAINNAME: Chapter Name")
I thought I had followed the proscribed method, but apparently something was found wanting.
The original title I submitted was, "Chain Story - The Set" which is how they suggested sending it in. But the rejection thing pops up a resubmit, so I will try with the title being only "The Set" and see if that goes through.
only_more_so said:I didn't edit the post, but I think the 750 word minimum was observed by all. Mine was in the 3000 word range.
Perhaps a message to Laurel would help. Is it just laurel or what?
only_more_so said:Thanks for the help Matriarch. I sent laurel a PM asking for assistance with this situation. I did follow the FAQ for posting a chain story, but it didn't suggest contacting laurel directly to grease the proverbial wheels.

matriarch said:'The Set' is the Chain name.
That's the one part everyone has to use - then you all use your own title for your chapter.
I think that's what it means....for example.
The Set - Chapter 1
The Set - Chapter 2
So you could either each just give your piece a chapter number, or an individual title.
EHawkins said:Hrm...
I should probably go and change the titling on mine then, just to be safe![]()

Trombonus said:Ok, finished my contribution and it's off to the editor.Just so I know, I submit it as a chain story, and then make the title "The Set." Do I add Chaoter 3 or my own title to the end of it?
Trombonus said:Well, my submission has posted. The Set Ch. 3 is finally up? Kinda weird that mine's the only one up so far though. Wonder why.

Yeah I figured as much.EHawkins said:Heh. That's hilarious![]()
Well, I had some submission weirdness with mine so it wouldn't surprise me if mine took a bit longer to get up, but mine's still pending.
S'ok though, I don't mind![]()
At least we have something to read now![]()
Seems a lot of that has been going around. Took one of my friends stories over two weeks to post.
Hope you guys enjoy it! Trombonus said:Yeah I figured as much.Seems a lot of that has been going around. Took one of my friends stories over two weeks to post.
Mine took like three days.
Hope you guys enjoy it!

Thank you so much.EHawkins said:I just read yours![]()
It was a very sweet story, and I liked the idea of the lonely, recluse painter who sees his muse in a dream, and then finds that she's delightfully real![]()
All the words were worked in so well and naturally in the context of the piece as well, (I had trouble with a few myself...).
Great job![]()
The only word I had real trouble with was transform, which just happened to be one of the owrds I contributed.
Trombonus said:Thank you so much.Once I saw the set list the idea just came to me, and really flowed well.

go figure.
Anyway, I'm really glad you liked it.![]()
and harmony.lol, funny you should mention that, because both those words were the ones I contributed to the list.EHawkins said:You're welcome![]()

Sorry about that.![]()

only_more_so said:A while ago I started a thread on story ideas, looking for inspiration. I remembered a writing exercise where someone provides a list of words and the author has to come up with a story using those words. This is the story I came up with: Robbed Her, Rocked Her
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to try again. Maybe some other authors would want to join me in the attempt. It would be interesting to see how diverse a selection of stories can be created from a similar list of words.
Any interest?
EDIT: Since there was enough interest, we started a chain story, the publishing schedule and links to the published stories are below:
