Write one scene of a story in which the climax is about a writer who dyes Persian cats funky colors.

The damp cold penetrated every cell of his being. The darkness seemed to be a blanket of despair, of depression that sunk deep to the center of his very soul. He was convinced he was among the lost , the never to be found in his makeshift prison. His existance centered around the comings and going of the animals that floated through his cell. The life and death struggle between the eaten and the satisfied. If only he could find a way, a signal as it were to signal the life stories that passed by so close.

He wanted to scream "I'm Here! Please notice me!" but when he opened his mouth no sound emerged. His despair grew to crescendo, he knew he must successfully signal someone or die.

The sun rose on a new day, people wandered through his cell, the dark cold apartment on the upper east side of the city that never sleeps now bright and warm with opened windows and summer breeze. Cats of many colors wandered between the legs of the amazed crowd of SPCA officers, paramedics and police.

"He would've died if it weren't for the cats."

"Wonder how long he laid there, his wheel chair turned over like that." the officer asked the paramedic.

"He never would've been found if it hadn't been for the cats. The purple one is the one that was noticed... He was lucky when he fell down the stairs he hit that rack of paint. The lady followed the purple one here and called the SPCA"

As the stretcher was pulled into the hall a yellow and pink cat leaped up to lick its master, who smiled and nuzzled her back. He never thought that painting cats could be his salvation, the long hair of the persians a flag of desparation.
