I have recently(within the last month and 1/2) started my second attempt at an erotic story....however, I have gotten this nasty case of writer's block and have no idea on how to continue. Anyone who thinks they could help, pm me or email me at circle_n_dot@hotmail.com . I could really use the help. Thanx a bunch!

For me, the best way to try and push thru it is to write. Doesn't matter if it's a letter to a friend or a hot kinky scene that's in my mind. Just keep writing and writing till you find you are actually writing something worthwhile.

Another thought is to just leave it alone for awhile. Don't think about it, don't act on it and DON'T open a word program/text file and sit starring at it waiting for the words to come. They usually don't <g>.

writer's block

This reply is based on my own limited experience.

When I have a block, it is bwcause I don't have a clear cut image of what comes next. My beste ideas come when I am away from the keyboard. Perhaps I am driving to work, Exercising on the treadmill, or just sitting quietly in a dimly lit room.

I pictute my characters and send them off on a variety of scenarios. Eventually, something clicks, seems right, believable and true. I go back to the key board and get on with my story.

I think we need a plan before we actually write.

In short, firm up your plot first and then your writing skills will kick in.

I am no expert, by any means. However, I have been able to deal with writer's block by either (1) starting a new piece unlike anything I've been working on, or to go back and dig out some old things I couldn't finish previously. I think what it does for me is to allow me to put away the work that is contributing to the block and to work on something else that may not create as much pressure.

well, see, I've only ever written one other story...and i've got like a page already on this one...but just as it started to get good, i got stuck! :(

So far, the revisiting thing, observing people, doing other things, etc...hasn't worked.

Although I've never tried it, I wonder if co-authoring something during times of writer's block might help. Seems that it could. Just sharing ideas and thoughts with another writer could only help.

hmmmmm....

Sure,

that's a good idea...but i wonder, would anyone like to co-author with me? Maybe that'd help.....

EDIT.
I find that if i have writers block i just start editing something i have written and 90% of the time i am inspired to keep going and the writers block dissapears.

Just do it. Write whether you want to or not. It'll probably suck, but that's okay, you can always go back and rewrite later. But the key is to keep the habit of writing everyday. It will kick back in eventually.

well since its an erotic story if its something youve never done maybe its just difficult for you to express? if you havent done it go out and give it a try then you can write it and have personal experience to draw on if you dont already

good luck

Writer's block is something I know all too well! lol Have you ever ventured over to Lit's Sexual Role Play board, or the Online Role Play board? Writing anything can sometimes help you get out of your rutt. If a role play story isn't for you, there is always journaling. Also, you could venture to the Story Ideas board, put your current work on hold, and try something new. If nothing more, I'm sure the story requestor will thank you! ;) Good luck!
