Try this on for size!

It's kinda cool over there. If you hurry you can still get your own early adopter account (all the bells and whistles paid accounts have without the overhead).

If you have an account it's easy enough to participate, just click "post" under any journal entry to enter into the discussion.

I did this separate from the writer's group we've been discussing here (some people may not want to deal with blurty). It doesn't have to be separate, but it doesn't have to be the group either. I think of them as two different places.

If WE can do that, well, why can't I? I have a site myself, I could create a story contest and run with it. A Nice Guy has a site and runs a few others for people. He could create a story contest, too. Except that ANG runs for-profit websites. They aren't pay-sites, but they advertise paysites. They offer free content to the public. I don't have a paysite and my only motive in running it is to have a spot to give people a chance to sign up for my list service. But if I could run one, why couldn't ANG? To him (I'm picking on him, but I don't believe he would feel this way) there's no difference in sites and you'll never convince him there is. They both have free content and neither of them intend to compete with Literotica as story sites. If I were allowed to run it, then in all fairness, so should he. This is why I think she was right. It sucks because WE gets absolutely nothing in return for her efforts beyond the satisfaction of helping others. But playing favorites is never the right way to go.

And your position has changed, how?

Laurel and Manu own Blurty.

Oopsie. Don't you just feel like a moron now?
