Writer Challenge Official Voting Booth--Everyone Needed

It's time to read and vote for the Writer Challenge flash fiction contest. EVERYONE who is a registered member of Literotica is asked to read, vote, and comment in this thread. Keep in mind as you read through the stories that there was an 800 word limit imposed on the authors and the story had to take place on a college campus or involve collegians.

What makes a story the best? Whatever criteria that you choose. The only criteria I ask you not to use is a prejudice against a given category. Just because you're not down with a given subcategory doesn't mean that that story shouldn't be considered one of "the best."

I'm really shocked and amazed at how well this turned out. All of the stories posted are well executed and worthy of your consideration and a vote.

The poll will run through next Thursday and the winner will be the author with the most votes as of 12:00 AM EST.

Good luck and may the best author named Marxist win.;)

voyergirl--Girlfriends

SD412--Shannon's Higher Education

privy2U--A Sister's Love

modest mouse-- Northeastern Belle

RisiaSkye--Quick Change

simplysouthern--The Interview

perkybaby--Nothing Like Jello

Rubyfruit--Educating Jenni

JazzManJim--The Music Assignment

Marxist--An Introduction To Cold Comfort

I know. I couldn't get a good stroke going to any of them. I read too fast I think.

That brings up a good question, will people be willing to read 10 stories if they are 2,000 words in length? That's not long, but I just wonder if it's too much to expect.

P.S. Vixen--What story did you like best and why?

Wow.....All of the stories were HOT........It was hard to only pick one...........Thank-you all for writing some really great stories.....;)

"Down to the Nightclub (da da daaaaaaa....) Bumpty Bumpty BUMP!"

And as a side note, I'd love to hear some feedback, whether you liked my story or not. I crave validation, good or ill. ;)

Wow, I got really nervous looking at the current results.

Now all I gotta say is vote for me! I'm pro education and would like to reduce Taxes.

I'm working on a critique of all the stories that I didn't edit or write.

Should I post it here or send it privately?

I don't mind it being done either way, so I'll take whichever is most convenient for you. I'm not sure how the others'll vote on that.

Oh yea..and did I mention that voting for me guarantees a Chicken in Every Pot! I AM the Great Society! I have a crack ninja team ready to take p_p_man out at a moment's notice!

Ok ok I finally read them all . . . and voted for each on the site.

Votes ranged from 3 to 5, and then I have now cast my vote on this thread. Only 1 story got a 5 and only 1 story got my poll vote.:rose:

No. Very doubtful that you'll get everyone to read 10. It was tasking enough to read them all at the 800 word limit. If you're going to make them longer next time, you should limit the contributors to four. You'll get more response because more people will be willing to invest the time for 4 instead of 10.

Now, as for your PS, I'll PM you with my answer so as not to ruffle any feathers. I will reiterate that all of the contributions were well written and enjoyable.

I have to register 9 more "aliases"

All the stories were great.. how can I ever pick just one?

I'm going to take a few hours to think about this..

I really enjoyed reading all of the stories, and I think that many should be made into longer versions- especially yours, JMJ. 800 words is way too short to get hot and bothered, but they were all interesting reads. Congrats to all of you :)

BTW, if anyone decides to hold another contest, I would be interested in participating.

I'd just like to say if anybody ha any comments regarding my story (including flames) I'd love to hear them. I'd like to become a better and more frequent writer of this sort of thing (Heck, and the paper I'm supposed to be working on) and I've love to hear critiques or ego-strokes :D

Looks like I'm going to have to see if there are any other stories by the contestants on the site. Quite interesting really. Too short but thems the breaks when you have word limits.

Fucking great... I thought Mouse or SS had my vote and yours was the last story I read just before voting.

Great story. Really great.

C'mon, my fellow virgin submitters, first round is on me.

Marxist, I think posting your feedback might influence perceptions of the stories so I would either hold off or do so in private. I'd prefer mine in private so any additional feedback I get isnt influenced.

This contest could be undertaken again with different parameters. As much as many of us griped about the length it was a wise decision to keep them so brief so as to allow people to read them all. As was mentioned above, if the length is increased perhaps less than 10 people would be a more workable contest.

Feedback is a good thing if anyone wants to take an extra minute to pass some along. I know 10 stories is a significant amount of reading, but if something strikes you in one of them tje author wouldn't mind knowing.

.....and no more masturbating!

The stories were *fabulous*.
I'm very impressed with the job each of you did.

I voted for the story wrtitten by the person i thought i might end up voting for before i'd read any of them... but it was a very close thing between her story and a couple others.

None of the stories sucked, btw, no matter what worries you've muttered to the contrary in threads pertaining to this topic. There are comments coming to most of you via some source or another.

some small opinions on further matches:
1. Please do not increase the story word length. If you do either all the stories will not get read or they'll be read on different days, with different attitudes coloring the reader's reaction.

2. Ask Laurel to make this voting thread a sticky. Lit memories for most things, fun stuff like this among them, are short - and popular involvement in such an endeavor as this one is vital.

3. Perhaps submitting them via non-known nick (LitWriter#1, LitWriter#2, etc) would insure less bias in terms of audience participation. I'm certainly not saying there's been bias, you understand, but i know i read through the list writers/stories based on friendship lines, i.e., i read Risia, for example, first, then Ruby, then... well, you get the pic. I'm putting forth the thought that such considerations might influence the final results.

This was incredibly well done, Marxist, overall.
On everyone's behalf, thank you for your efforts.

Even with a limit of 800 words, the authors had room for exposition, description, and, of course, sex. There's room to tell a story in 800 words. You just really have to cut, cut, cut out any superfluous words.

For the next contest, I think it would be interesting to see the parameters tightened a lot. Instead of it just having a generic setting, really limit the possibilties. The more you restrict, the harder your force the imagination to work.

I voted for...no...think I'll keep that information to myself...<g>.
