The opening scene in Jaws is the most terrifying 4.5 minutes ever filmed.
Viscerally maybe. The opening scene in Jaws is the most terrifying 4.5 minutes ever filmed.
I keep meaning to re-watch that series. I'll check out your clip after work tonight.Viscerally maybe.
But I can't think of anything that has made me as deeply uncomfortable as these nine minutes of Penny Dreadful.
S1 was best. S2 went a bit weird, but this scene (and the one with razorblades) gave me nightmares for... quite some time.I keep meaning to re-watch that series. I'll check out your clip after work tonight.
Theseven percent solution is the only one of his I have read. I enjoyed that.I'm of the opinion—this is only my opinion, and you don't have to agree, but you should—that Nicholas Meyer's Sherlock Holmes stories are superior to all others, save for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's own stories. Case in point, The Seven Percent Solution!
The Dark Knight is the best superhero movie.
The opening bank heist scene is perfect and sets the tone for the rest of the film. "I believe whatever doesn't kill you, simply makes you . . . stranger." Great line.
Most superhero movies are trash. The good ones are good trash, but they're still silly. Movies for children. This one is different.
The Harvey Dent/Two-Face storyline doesn't quite work, IMO, but Heath Ledger's Joker is easily the greatest villain of any superhero movie.
And Christian Bale is great as Batman, because he's weird. You can't forget that he's the guy who played the killer in American Psycho.
Yes! I'm not alone! I think the first is way better. Not to knock Heath as the Joker, but 1 had a better story.Christian Bale is a great Bruce Wayne, but he is an overrated Batman. I don't think that's his fault though, the only thing he could be blamed for is that he gave Batman the worst case of laryngitis I've ever seen on a non-smoking character in a film. I blame it mostly on the script for being riddled with the Batman cliches and blatantly obvious plot armor that didn't start dropping out of the character until Ben Affleck debuted as Batman, which to be fair, I think Ben Affleck was done dirty as Batman, just as Henry Cavill was done dirty as Superman.
I still think Batman Begins is better than The Dark Knight as a superhero movie, but The Dark Knight is better as a police movie.
Worth it for Heath, but again the first one is better. And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say skip the third. That movie was terrible.I've never watched The Dark Knight.
I think the 90s was the last time I watched a live action batman movie.Worth it for Heath, but again the first one is better. And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say skip the third. That movie was terrible.
I don't hate the third one. It's definitely a dip from the second, and seems obvious it was cobbled together after being derailed from Ledger's untimely death. But I'd say it's still better than most other super hero movies.
I think the 90s was the last time I watched a live action batman movie.
The animated ones are just so much better. Like Batman and Harley, can't remember the name of it for sure, but Harley fucks Nightwing, how can any of the live action movies top that?
It's not bad, IMO, but it IS somewhat 'meh.' I expected more from that show.I keep meaning to re-watch that series. I'll check out your clip after work tonight.
Agreed. As far as adults go -- I'm sure children are still into them, to an extent -- I should be the ideal market for these movies. I grew up reading comics, I love a good action flick, entertainment as diversion. I hit most of the early Marvel movies in theaters. I ate em up. But they've become so oversaturated these days that I can't be bothered to watch them even when they're streaming for free.I would agree. I liked 1 and 2 more, but 3 is better than most other superhero movies, although that's not a high bar to jump over.
It seems like superhero movies are finally running out of steam. If true, that's a good thing. We need a break. I thought the latest Superman movie was extremely meh.
I love the animated Batman movies.I think the 90s was the last time I watched a live action batman movie.

You should, especially the animated Suicide Squad one.. Never watched those myself.
Then you'll know why Yatzee is such a funny word.I love the animated Batman movies.
It makes me sad that they don't get the advertisement that the live action ones do.I love the animated Batman movies.
I'll try to find it. I liked the animated series, but mostly Batman Beyond. You should, especially the animated Suicide Squad one. Then you'll know why Yatzee is such a funny word.
