My latest controversial opinions. There is no way on earth that 1 person (Laurel) can read every story submitted each and every day, There is not enough hours in a day. Also, some stories, probably no pattern, go down the rabbit hole of purgatory (aka pending queue) and never see human eyes and/or the light of day (probably a technical cms glitch)

They are the best two. And it depends what day you ask me which one I think is better. They were different Bonds for different eras. The early Bond movies always make me realize how much more of a jaded society we are now than we were 65 years ago. Exotic locales were such a big part of those early ones, when Miami Beach counted as exotic.

I will say Roger Moore was much better than he gets credit for. His last few movies weren't great, but that wasn't because of him. The producers were chasing the next big thing and it was a disaster.

Honestly, all the Bonds have good or bad movies. Even Lazenby who only got one movie and who was mostly terrible had the most emotional scene in the whole franchise. Craig had a good first movie followed by more bad ones in a row than anyone else. You can say at least Dalton and Brosnan also rebooted it at their respective times.

You're getting your Bond timeline a bit wrong here. Moore's first two movies (Live and Let Die and The Man with the Golden Gun) are perfectly fine, slightly oddball movies directed by the same Guy (Hamilton) who directed Conery's last movie Diamonds are Forever which is tonally quite similar. Then Lewis Gilbert (who had previously worked with Connery in You Only Live Twice) directed The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker. The same bloke who had the hollowed out volcano had another two plots including total world destruction from an underwater base and space station (and yes was very much chasing Star Wars). Then John Glen did all the rest of the Moore and Dalton Bond movies. Anyway, the point being that Moore's best movie For Your Eyes Only came after a lot of the trash and has way more in common with The Living Daylights (my vote for the absolute best of the bunch) than any of the previous Moore movies. Moore was fine, but just too old for the part, especially by the time he got given his best material and someone who the movies ended up being shaped around rather than adapting himself to the material. I learned that the producers considered getting Dalton for much earlier films which would have been good (the Internet says as early as On Her Majesty's Secret Service which seems rather unbelievable given that he would only have been 23).

I liked Dalton, edgy before Craig, but GoldenEye was my favorite. Not a critic, just an option. Stopped watching though. Never saw the last 2 or 3.

Mike Meyers is the reason why Craig's Bond was so gritty.

They couldn't keep on with the cartoonish version after Austin Powers parodied the genre so hard.
