It was cut down in its prime and became a martyr. Fans rallied around it and made it far more well-known than if it had aired more seasons. Why do you say that?

Yes. Brian Henson was the showrunner and primary creative force behind Farscape alongside Rockne S. O'Bannon. Are you referring to the son of the Muppet Show creators? But he directed only one episode of the show. Or am I missing something?
Same with the Borg in Star Trek. They went from an enemy that could not be reasoned with to a nerfed group that lost any kind of scariness or mystery.I think Serenity is a perfect encapsulation of what would have happened. They explained the Reavers. Is it better that we explored that mystery? Did it help to uncover the awful origin story of a boogeyman, or was it better to leave them mysterious and never know why?
Overexplaining is a subtle but pervasive problem with any kind of storytelling that is inevitable when there is overexposure.Same with the Borg in Star Trek. They went from an enemy that could not be reasoned with to a nerfed group that lost any kind of scariness or mystery.
Stargate fans remember.Today, Farscape is all but forgotten.
Stargate is another one! Perfectly serviceable sci fi. Nothing near the legacy of Firefly.Stargate fans remember.
I have a deep love of Cleopatra 2525. Farscape is a step up in production values.I could never figure out what people found in that show. I love fantasy and sci-fi, and I love Firefly. But Farscape is just...
The production, the acting, the cartoonish feel... I don't see it. I tried watching it twice, and I made myself watch several episodes even if I was suppressing the need to cringe...
You Farscape lovers are nuts!
And that is why, personally, I put more of the credit for Farscape on Henson. His mind for practical effects allowed Farscape to pull off weirdness no one else could come close to.Farscape is a step up in production values.
Farscape is Horny Muppets in Space, and either loving or hating that are both perfectly valid responsesI could never figure out what people found in that show. I love fantasy and sci-fi, and I love Firefly. But Farscape is just...

I have the DVDs somewhere, but never got round to watching it.By the way, Cleopatra 2525 is about a stripper who gets a boob job but the surgery goes badly and she gets cryogenically frozen then is awoken many years later by a couple of warrior women fighting machine overlords. It has Gina Torres in it. I fucking love it. It's campy and it knows it's campy.
You might be the only other person besides me who bought the DVDs of that show.I have the DVDs somewhere, but never got round to watching it.
Farscape has been slowly developing a cult following. It's now available to stream. Give it another decade and I predict it'll be up there with Firefly as a niche interest thing.Even Farscape, a show I absolutely fucking adore, does not have the social credit and legend that Firefly does. Farscape more or less got the correct number of seasons for its premise. It would have benefitted from fewer episodes per season, I think, to cut down a little on the bloat, but all in all it had a pretty successful run.
Today, Farscape is all but forgotten.
I want to believe.Farscape has been slowly developing a cult following. It's now available to stream. Give it another decade and I predict it'll be up there with Firefly as a niche interest thing.
Its wide range of non-humanoid aliens, closer involvement with wars, and of course Claudia Black and/or Ben Browder in black leather, and good scripts made it a cut above most shows. And overall it didn't go on too long, though some episodes did.
I came to it through streaming, and really enjoyed it! Very fun, weirdly sexy, and the puppetry holds up so much better than the CGI from that era.Farscape has been slowly developing a cult following. It's now available to stream. His episodes on Hercules / Xena as Autolycus are still some of my favorite episodes of television ever.It aired with Jack of All Trades. There isn't a Bruce Campbell show I haven't watched and loved and I think it piggybacked on that.
100%. That way it gets to be remembered as that cool thing that ended too soon, and not as the show that jumped the shark with a gang-rape episode.Getting cancelled was the best thing that could have happened to Firefly.
I have an abiding love for Bubba Ho-Tep. I went in expecting popcorn and instead somehow it delivered a full meal (made from popcorn). His episodes on Hercules / Xena as Autolycus are still some of my favorite episodes of television ever.
If a radio station decided to play it, would anybody know what it is?I like country music. I wish they still made it.
AgreedAvocado doesn't taste good.
Strong disagree from me. I like it in salads and love it in guacamole.Avocado doesn't taste good.
