I want to bring up something that I know absolutely nothing about (and my lack of knowledge is admittedly vast.)

This wrestling stuff...... You know what I mean- WWF or whatever they call it. I have never watched this stuff but I have seen enough to know how women are treated and exposed to the public by this "sport." And I also know that many children watch it.

Does anyone have an opinion on this or care to discuss it?

My ex husband called it his "soap opera".

I was not allowed to bother him when it was on.

Heh..like that stopped my bitching...

Anyway the way these women are treated blows me away.

Why would you let yourself be presented that way?

I dont allow my son to watch it,no matter how hard he begs. I had to stop it when he took my youngest and tried to do a move on her.

Thank gawd no one was hurt.

I think it is ONE of the most gross forms of, (so called), entertainment that is shown on TV. Right up there alongside of regular daytime 'SOAPS'.

(JMHO),...but it's mine,...and I own it. :rose:

I have no problem with women who choose to pose for pornograhy. If I looked like they look, I would likely be doing the same thing. Hell, I have my own subscription to Playboy.

However, the idea of parading women before children and presenting them as prostitutes and possessions does disturb me. Again, I accept that those women are doing what they choose to do, and I have no quarrel with that. So, my feelings on this are very torn.

I live in a state where prostitution is a legitimate business. Prostitution is a big money maker for many of our counties. I am in favor of legalized and regulated prostitution. And for the most part, the legitimate brothels maintain a very low profile, especially around the small communities they have put up shop.

This form of domination of women, under the guise of "sport" really does bother me, especially because of it's appeal to children.

Congrats Sis,...and I hope you enjoy the rest of your mile-markers. :rose:

Congrats Eb

I have a son and he will not watch it. When he's 16 it will be diferent, he'll probably have mags under his martess anyway. I just hate seeing small kids watch it. i won't even let him have a female karate partner. I don't want him to think he can ever hit a woman (we'll talk aout the if she wants part when he's older :) )

This brings up an interesting point, Lost: Censoring materials from your children.

Any thoughts on it?

I never had to do it with my daughter. She self censored things herself. She just showed no interest.

My children were very much the same way, Eb. When they became teenagers they exercized very good judgement on their own. I never had to monitor my children to a great degree. They are now very bright college students and delightful young adults.

i'll comment on by comment.

I'm very strict w/ his imput. i did a study on my son one afternoon and let him watch a half hour of Blue's Clues and then a half hour of Powder Puff Girls. His reactions to the shows were so different. he was fairly calm after the bc show, but he was up and trying to kick, hit, or kill everything in sight after PPG. it was a real eye opener for me.
So now if we are watching something and i see its degrading to women (or men there are some of them out there too) it goes off.

Good on you for being an observant and sensitive mom.
It pays off when they become young adults, at least in my experience.

Thank you.
You make the assumption that both of us will live that long :)
