I just love the new look.. It is soo cool.. I had to check where I was when I first jumped in, but now, I'm swimming with the fishies and the water is great!

I noticed that the legendary Manu had graced us with his awe inspiring person, and I was rendered immediatly speechless.. is this a mid year christmas for us or what??

(I wonder what our divine Master and Mistress have in store for us next year?)

More Testing And Reading Posts...

As you might know, I'm working on making sure this new BB is functioning correctly. Tonight, I was going through the member list making sure that everyone's listings looked right. Well, while I was doing it, I read some interesting stuff in the "bio" field of people's profiles. One that I found interesting was Herbie's. Because the profile was interesting, I decided to follow the link from it to this thread. The profile says two things that caught my attention:

#1 - Herbie makes children's toys. That's cool and fairly unique - kids deserve toys. Keep at it!

#2 - It says that he (I'm assuming 'he' here) likes "4x4 cross country driving". Now, it also says he's from New Zealand. Isn't New Zealand about 40 miles from one side to the other? Short drive, eh? ha.

Seriously, though - there are some cool and interesting people who visit the board. I know that those of you who spend more time here than I do already know that, but I thought I'd point out the obvious just to make everyone else feel smarter.

I do have one question on how this board works differently from the old one.

I do I get it to acknowledge that I've gone away and come back? The old board used to update the cookies/last on when I refreshed the index page. This one updates the current time and last posts only, it doesn't update the time so that when I go back to read new posts that showed up it thinks I haven't read anything since I was 'last on.'

You've obviously never really looked at a topographical map of NZ. It may only be forty miles or so wide on the map, but if they ever ironed it flat, it would be about 400 miles wide. Makes me want a 4x4 that can handle that kind of terrain. <G>

I'm pretty sure that when you shut down your computer it can tell when you've left. It just doens't update the cookie if your ISP is the same as it was the last time you refreshed the page.

At least the list of names keeps changing each time I refresh the page.

I actually know the answer to a tech question! Yippee!

The way I understand it, the script lists users as active if it has seen their cookie within the last 5 minutes. So, you don't have to log out or shut your browser or anything. You should disappear within 5 minutes of leaving the site.

How it actually does that, I have no idea!

That five minute time limit explains a lot about why things seemed inconsistent.

Hi there Manu and you others, I am new to this, but boy have I been made to feel so welcome,It is neat,
*smile* NZ is a little more then 40 miles across at is largerpart, But having a sunday drive ,you can go from one coast to the other in around about 3 hours,Others parts such as Auckland and allowing for rush traffic in about half an hour *smile*

Yes Manu, Herbie is a He.. a real tough bloke from down the line!.. And it took me 2 weeks to drive around (read: up, down, and over) the South Island recently and how I wish I had a 4x4!

Weird Harold.. some of our 4x4's kick serious butt, but then there are the "wannabes" little things that want to be 4x4's when they grow up (and they are always impeccably clean)
